I've been researching new HU's and the last factor is HD or no HD.
I'm just wondering if those who have HD like it and is it worth it?
:help

if you heard HD - you would be won over instantly. Depending on model year, This is the kit you need:

DICE High Definition Radio w/ iPod Integration
http://www.europeanautosource.com/product_info.php?&products_id=467

The HD DICE will allow you to receive High Definition radio broadcasts with your stock BMW system. Expect CD quality from your HDFM stations and FM quality with your HDAM stations. There are no programming fees with HD Radio and the sound is simply awesome - much better than Sirius or XM.

The kit will come with everything needed including the trunk harness and HD Micro antenna. If you would like to integrate your iPod, the option iPod cable can be purchased allowing full iPod integration. The iPod can be safely stored away in the glove compartment for 100% stealth installation and accessed completely from the steering wheel controls.

The HD DICE allows for full text display on your Radio or NAV display and looks like it was integrated from factory. A listing of HD radio stations in your area can be accessed by visiting www.hdradio.com (http://www.hdradio.com).

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I have an HD head, no stations around here are using it that I'm aware of. Check that out in your area before making your decision. That said, the HD was just a side effect of the head I wanted, it didn't enter into my purchase decision.

HD radio requires an optional module with every radio on the market I know of other than JVC's KDHDR1. It is available as an add-on for pretty much every model of significant brand on the market that is able to control that brand's outboard devices.
Let me reread that... Ok, yeah it makes sense...

I'm into capping my own shit~
"Currently, there are 1,517 HD Radio stations broadcasting across the nation" I find this interesting. I travel a lot but mostly in my own Metro Detroit market. I have both Sirius and XM in my daily driver. Just FM and CD in my other 2 ITs as well as my non-BMWs. No HD radio. I know a lot about the technology and I really dislike FM (mostly due to the commercial ratio during key listening windows) but I have almost no interest in upgrading my FM to HD primarily due to the content.

Considering the equipment and installation cost is very similar between HD, XM and Sirius upgrades, I personally believe the $13 a month subscription cost of satellite radio is a bargain. When I do leave my market, I don't lose my station. The categorization and grouping of the formats (on Sirius- XM is retarded in this) is also a big deciding factor for me.

TO research HD stations in your area, use this link. Oh wait, I can't post links. Anyway it is

Oh yeah, the other thing that bugs me about HD radio is that the entire enterprise is being bankrolled by taxpayers instead of stockholders. NO WAY! I'd rather chase bad guys in the desert with my hard earned dollars. Private enterprise launched Sirius and XM and they are both working (to some degree and subject to individual interpretation of course) while the FCC owns the HD turd which in my opinion is not working and will never work as well as the satellite based broadcasts.
