Ok, I got the wiring part 9for the rear defrost and rear map lights) of the mounting kit installed for my hardtop on Friday. I had to put the soft top up and down a few times to get access to where I needed to run the cables and everyhting went very smoothly. I put the top up and called it a day. Then on Saturday, we went outside, put the sft top down and put the hardtop on. Yesterday it donned on me that I had not placed a towel in the crease of the rear window and wanted to do so to protect it while the ardtop is on. So, I took the hardtop off yesterday to do so and it would not raise-up. I can hear no sounds of motors trying to work....nothing! I cleaned the contact points for the console-mounted switch and checked all of the fuses associacted with the top and that got me nowhere. Any thoughts? My soft top has worked beautifully since I had a new module put in at BMW like four months ago and no it acts totaly dead. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!

By the way, my car is a 1994 325i with the Semi-Automatic Top (power top that needs to be manually unlatched from the windshield). Thank you so much everyone!!!

Hmm weird indeed. It looks like the module still thinks the hardtop is on which would keep the roof from operating.

Try unplugging the wires at the hardtop mounting points just to see what happens.

Good thought! I will try that this afternoon!

MParallel,

You are a genius! I removed my hardtop and unplugged the conections for it and *poof* the power soft top started working right away!! So, I guess I will be keeping them plugged in while the Hardtop is on and un-plug them when I am ready for some sunny-weather fun!

Ha nice!

Well now you know that somehow the contacts (wires) are connected even when no hardtop is in place, so I'd just check the mounting brackets and wiring.
Something is keeping the wires connected/conducting power, even when the hardtop is on.
