took the X5 in for a laundry list of small items to repair under warranty to make it perfect again (floor mats etc) and they gave me a 5 series loaner. Not bad, not bad at all.......

We will see if they complete my list of requested items in a timely manner. if so, i will continue to sing their prases.
that is all for now.

word. this is good for them. I got to get up to them and see the new palce and I thought it was very nice. went late and all the gates were open so I gave myself a tour of the entire place.... the garage area is very nice many many lifts for them to service lots of cars.

i was there at 6:50 this morning at there were 7 cars lined up ready to go in.
I saw a lady in a 96-97 328i waiting for service. I can only hope she has an extended warranty......if not, she will probably spend more than the car is worth (it was green)

What is their criteria for giving a loaner? I took my car to Moritz in Arlington for some warranty things and I had to beat a van ride to my office out of them and a loaner was out of the question. Not the first time I've had issues with Moritz and probably not the last. Just curious to see if you knew how Classic works giving out loaner cars vs telling you you're SOL like Moritz does. I wouldn't mind the inconvenience of going to Classic if I knew I'd get treated like a person rather than a problem...

Classic in not too bad when it comes to loaners altough they have Enterprise on site, so if they run out of BMWs, you will be most likely getting an SUV from Enterprise judging by 7er you have listed. They used to have a stupid policy last year that stated that if you did NOT buy your car from them, they didnt give you a loaner. That was one of many other reasons why I serviced my 330 at BMW of Dallas for the most part.

petern101
10-23-2007, 01:54 PM
that is so wierd. i would figure since its BMW, they automatically give you a loaner.

whenever we go to park place lexus to get the ES serviced, no questions asked if the bill is going to be over $100 (i wouldn't take it there for small items anyways) we always get a lexus loaner. last time around, it was about february 07 and we got a 07 es330 fully loaded. sucky car for fun, but comfortable...

Have you tried Autobahn?

I've never had a problem with Autobahn, and thats saying ALOT coming from me. As for Moritz, I've never had a good visit or good service (they've botched my 3-series more times than I can count).

i bought my x5 out of state. they allocate the BMW loaners to classic customers first, then others. When they run out, then you get a rental.
My service advisor was pretty cool, and BMW Brian gave me the intro, so it has been smooth sailing from my end.

I'll give them a call and see what they say... I have to take my car in with a blown lighter fuse and my halos being out and Moritz again this morning refused a loaner, refused a rental and are now refusing a shuttle ride when I called to schedule. I don't care if they put me in a freaking Kia Rio as long as it gets me from point A to point B while my car is having warranty work done. Moritz now won't even do me the courtesy of having Creepy Van Driver tell me his life story while taking me to work on a 45 minute drive that should take 20 minutes.

Its common practice...I'm sure the owners of Classic are up to their asses in cosntruction costs that they'd rather just jump out while they can still make a profit.

O.K. The rumors have been floating around that Classic is on the market and every one up here has gotten their panties in wad because of it. A few Saturdays ago in our weekly sales meeting, the owner specifically addressed the team and informed us that the rumors are simply not true. Maybe they just dangled the carrot to see what kind of offers would be put on the table. Who knows, but we have been told that Classic is not for sale and will not be any time soon.

Thanks for the kind words about the store. We really appreciate your business and hope to build long term relationships. Please call me directly if you guys need assistance with any thing. At least I can get you with the right person. The right person is key. Thanks again.

Is the word on the street still true about Sewell opening up a BMW dealer in Grapevine/Southlake area as soon as BMW of Dallas moves to their new location?

Personally, not only does there need to be a BMW dealer in northern Tarrant & Denton County, but one out in Rockwall.

Not sure about the Sewell store. I think there are just enough BMW dealerships in the area. BMW will become just another car dealership if they start dropping stores on the ground. The exclusivity is what BMW so cool.

petern101
10-26-2007, 04:03 PM
^i think that would only happen if they sold cheaper cars...

i would almost say exclusivity would pertain to Ferrari, Bently, Lotus, Lambo...

i obviously like BMW out of MB / BMW but its not so exclusive whenever high school kids are driving around in them

People who have one bad experience will tell 5 people on average. People who have a good experience will tell one. Taking a huge investment (emotional and monetary) like a car to a place that will beat the crap out of it and put a customer out 1.5 hrs+ to get it worked out is an issue that's worth noting in my book.

36mm socket to losen filter cap = $9.99
Hydraulic Jack = $19.99
Filter = 12.99
Oil = (6.50*7) = $45.50 (Mobil M1)
Oil Drain Pan = $9.99
(i just baught these items a few weeks ago)
= $98.95 ...still cheaper than oil change at the dealer.

Plus ...the next time you need to do your oil change ...it will be way cheaper since all you have to buy is the oil and filter.

meeting them at 2PM today to discuss their responsibilities.

The A/C controller was changed out, and now the heat doesn't work, they buffed the headlights with a buffer because the service writter wrote down "headlights cloudy" when he meant to write "headlights have condensation in them" so my headlights now have micro scratches in them and wax residue on the top of them and look milky instead of clear.

I stopped by dent pro yesterday to have them look at doing paintless dent repair on the damage and got a quote of $425. That doesn't include the 2 wheels they curbed.

Just got the X5 back from spending 1 day at BMW of Dallas. They fixed the 2 main things that I wanted fixed, that Classic said were not cover under warranty, and that I would have to pay for.

So far, screw classic. I also had to pay $175 to have the door dings fixed. Classic offered to split the $350 repair with me.....so Very nice of them since it was thier fault.:mad

In the end, here is my evaluation of Classic:
They gave me a nice loaner.

They put 5 door dings in my X5 and curbed 2 of the wheels

They were nice enough to pay for half of the damage they did

They kept the truck for a week

They didn't fix the 2 main problem that I brought the truck in for

I sat around at classic a total of about 8 hours while waiting to talk to various people about resolution to my concerns

make your own decision, but i will most likely never return, as I swore I wouldn't do after the first time they screwed me over.

review of BMW of Dallas?

7.5 out of 10

One of my concerns was:
on the highway, the heater stops blowing hot air

Susan told me I need to tutn off the "snowflake"

I hesitantly agreed to try that, but mentioned to her that my M3 and my 330 both still heat fine with the snowflake light up. I use it defrost. But I figured I give it a try, because BMW might have changed teh way it operates. On teh way back to work, it did the same thing with the A/C off, the heat adjusted to all 3 red dots on the center vent, and the digital adjustment set at 79. any engine speeds below 2k RPM and it heats fine. Above that it astarts blowing cold air. My brain is telling me that the heater diverter valve is being forced closed from the pressure of the water pump, or the heater core is air locked.

We will see what BMW of Dallas comes up with.

I drive east in the morning for work, so going west, then turning back east is a pain. My next option will be moritz if BMW of Dallas doesn't pan out.

Go to Moritz and deal with Richard. I've used him for ten years. He's the best.

My car is sitting at Moritz right now for some warranty work, dropped it off last night. I'm not overly fond of anyone there, they always act like it's a huge bother to deal with customers and try to upsell me on anything they can.

Who did you deal with?

A lot of the customers are assholes, so a lot of the employees seem to get hard nosed, but a nice gal like you should get treated right. :)

I try to clean myself up a little before I go in to the dealership, so I wore a bib for most of the morning to keep my shirt from getting all sticky and wet at least.

My pickup experience was much better than my dropoff for sure. My advisor is Terrence and he was really cool when I went to pick it up yesterday morning, much more so than when I dropped it off. I was impressed that they actually washed it and cleaned the wheels really well instead of running a garden hose over it which is what it seemed that they'd done on previous visits. When I dropped it off I had to deal with a guy named Joe who I would just as soon punch in the face as ever talk to again while I waited for Terrence.

My experiences have been the opposite. I've never had a lick of trouble from Classic and still recommend them to friends. I use the same SA and he's always taken care of me and my stuff (even though most of it's out of his control). Maybe it's luck - who knows. Regardless, I'm sticking with them for now. Sorry about the troubles you had - that kind of stuff is frustrating as hell. :dunno:

Those guys are usually OK but Richard has been there since the late 80's and really knows his stuff. Feel free to tell him I sent you. I sent you my name in a PM. :)

I like to actually deal with a person at times, in person, rather than on the computer. Especially if I don't really know what I need.

You hit on the meat of the problem there. ;) For you, the dealer makes the most sense.
