Hi, ive got a UK imported E34 M5 (1988). long story short the guy who bought it hit something on the road and cracked the sump and oil leaked. he drove it for 2-3 mins after.
i bought the car with bottom end bearings out of it and sump off the car.
when i went to put the bearings back on i noticed that the numbers written on the rod to match the bearing to them, some of them were on the exhaust side and i think a couple on the other side. anyways i matched them anyways.
when i started the car, there was a bit of a "hitting" sound like when tappets are noisy due to no oil but the car didnt start. after that time the car is not starting. seems like there is no compression.
questions:
1) do the numbers on the rods have to be all on the same side? and if yes, which one ?
2) by putting them the way i did, could that have led to bending of the valves? and the hitting noise was bending of valves.
3) could it be anything else?
thanks and sorry for long post
