Hey guys,

New to the forum. I drive a 95 Metallic Grey 525i with a four speed auto trans (GM one).

Lately, the transmission has been quite sluggish in getting into first gear. To the point where sometimes I give it gas and it stalls to about 2k then jumps in. I have checked the fluid and with the help of the Bentley manual recently serviced it (new filter, gaskets, etc). But, I still have the problem.

When I put the trans in Auto mode and manually shift 1st-4th and it feels great. I can gas it without any type of hesitation, unlike when its in full auto and there is hesitation.

Can you guys think of what exactly this could be? I'm thinking it is possible that there is something wrong with the torque converter. If it were the tc is that something that could be replaced at a fraction of the cost of a rebuild?

Cheers,

Chris

You sure you changed the fluid properly? Car running and level? cycling the gears after topping up and topping up again?

Mine was a bit sluggish, until I changed the fluid and made sure it was topped off. NOw 100% fine.

sounds like it is time to take it out 4 a rebuild.
