Well the housings are different for the lows and the highs, so if you swapped them your new low beams would be like having the highs on...

heres why, i knwo lame, but i was just thinking, thought id ask, but a e46/city light look?
so is the material IN the housing going to make the low look like a high? is the 9005 and 9006 much different? aka, is it the housing that makes them brighter?

the bulbs and even plugs are not much diffrent but the housing are.

k. so it would not work? it would just look the same as the original set up?

Listen to habbie. The bulbs are similar, the bulbs don't make much of a diffrence between high beam and low, some cars actually use the same bulb for either side. It's the HOUSING that makes the diffrence. The way the light is reflected from the blub to the road. You could make it work if you wanted to, but then you would not want to drive at night. You would be lighting up what is way ahead of you (driving lights) and not the sides of the road or a broad area. If you were driving on a curvy road, you would have to drive with your "high beams" on to even see the sides. Even if you swaped the bulbs, you would still be flashed at because of the pattern and the way high beams are aimed.

Doing what you are wanting to will not give you any kind of "city light" look, just like a moron with his high beams on look. If you want ciy lights, put some in. If you want DRLs, then make your high beams DRLs that way you have the look during the day, and can still see at night.

Not to mention, swaping it like that is just plain ricy! lol.

I was'nt being rude, just trying to clarify. If you want a REAL simple answer, then it could work, just some re-wiring here and there.

but if its the back/inside of the assembly, and not really the bulbs how would wiring it differently make it work? like relays to lessen the wattage to the light when on or somthing? is that how it works?

figure the high beam housing is aimed higher (more level) than the low beam housing. The low beam housing is down at an angle towards the road.

cant you just aim them down?

no, they're non adjustable. If you look at the back of the housing of the entire light, its one big molded plastic piece. The lights are put together with other lenses and trim rings to look good. There is no adjustment on them, only the entire headlight assembly adjusts.

like I said, this is the REAL simple answer. It would'nt work well, but you could make the high beam light up insted of the low beam and visa versa. Does'nt change the light pattern or anything. All the problems I told you would still exist, but you'd have the inside light on insted of the outside, that is all it would do.

if this was done, the lows running in the highbeam... the low's would be running at full blast. essentialy like running the highs all the time and every driver would have you.

Yeah, but you could always work a lower power bulb in there. But even if it was done, you would still probly get flicked at. But it could be done. But you can do ANYTHING....once...
