This weekend a friend of my friend was being an ass and verbally trashing my car. I told him we should go for a ride. I didn't really plan on it but i got up to 140mph on a smooth county highway late at night. My friend looked over at me and said this probably isn't a good place to speed. I said to him "They aren't going to catch us". I grew up in that town so I knew the road and area very well.
My question is:
what is the fastest you've gone in your e46?

110 mph

115-120

130ish never looked down after 120

well with the 3.15 rear diff I pegged the car at 163mph. (very stupid)
with the 3.46 rear diff I hit 130mph passing a guy on the intersate with a riced out celica trying to keep up lets just say he didnt.

120mph a few times during a few races. Honestly we were doing 80, next thing i know, triple digits. I am usually first to let off the gas. I don't like doing more than 120, and often don't like hitting triple digits.

Wow, can't imagine what he would think it a good car. There are cars more expensive, but not better. There are lots of cars cheaper, but not as good.

Wasn't there a guy in Wisconsin who got clocked at 160 in a Lamborghini Diablo, and the corrupt cops took his license, siezed his car, and turned it into a D.A.R.E. car, so they could drive it in parades at 4 M.P.H.?

In our city, there was a drug bust and they seized a E36 323 coupe. Now there is DARE stickers all over it and it ruined the whole car. But i bet the guy driving it isn't complaining.

In out city also we got a couple of dodge chargers and cruisers. Those things can catch anything.

110 on I15 going to California, by accident. I was just cruising along in 5th, decided I wanted to catch up to a car that had passed. Humming along nicely, looked down and it said 110. I said "oops" and took my foot off the gas. 5th is such a nice gear...

135 MPH last week on our road trip home. Then my wife got scared because the winds were gusting at about 80 MPH. The car didn't even seem to be working.

Ran it till it cut off with a State Trooper in tow. It's OK though. He's a good friend who wanted to know if his cruiser could keep up with my 04 330i. About a dead heat.

well chipped, i think cut off is 155 or 160.

120+ in the middle of nowhere. Probably won't do it again... at least until spring comes around and a few more mods are put on.

Have only gone up to about 115 so far since I got my bimmer a year ago. Feels heavy next to my Prelude (which drives like a go-cart), but very steady and solid. Will try to push it when I can, but it's tough in NYC roads, highways, traffic, crap. Unlike my bike, hence my screenname, that baby has gone 165...with a passenger! As fun as cars may be, bikes still rule. I hit 140 just about anywhere I want. 100 with one hand is easy. Anything below 80 on a bike is like sleepwalking...zzzzzzzzz...

But do love all my rides...each with it's own character.

Factory cutoff for a ZHP is 155... no performance chip needed. Non-ZHP is 128.

I've been a bit over 140, but at that speed I pay more attention to the road than to the exact reading of the speedometer. I would have tried to top it out if I knew the road better and it wasn't dark.

I got up to about 135 twice, each time running with another car. One was a MB CLK 500 and the other (who graciously decided not to blow me away) was an SL 55. Both times were on 114 Westbound west of Texas Stadium between the 183 split and Las Colinas. If I do say so, going that fast takes balls on that stretch of road.

115-120 on the way to Orlando, Florida at 5:00am on the turnpike!!! It was sweet, there were no cars so I figured I'd have a little fun ;)

I've only done about 105 in this car. I did 130-135 in my mom's 540 when I was like 16 on the 73 toll road. Wouldn't do it again though.
