So how many of you are planning to attend the Mystery Run on Sunday, March 30th at Sandy Beach?

Brian -
Was it 9:30 or 10:00?

Looking forward to meeting some of you that are on this forum, good to have a face with the message....

Starts at 10 am, or 9:30 for the fashionably late! ;) See you there Woody. Don't forget the co-pilot. Just spoke to George tonight and he's rounding up a co-pilot. He's also bringing some Koni's he's looking to sell.

I forgot to ask, is there any cost involved with this run...admission?

Is this going to be a swap meet also....hehe

No cost involved. No swap meet, just George trying to get rid of some parts.

I'll be there if I put my car back together in time.

I can't wait to see the look on your faces when you hear my car at idle for the first time.

"WTF did that idiot do to his car?"

Reid,

What did you do to your car? Large cams, AA/B&B exhaust? You can always bring the Teg.

:dunno i should have asked this sooner so it wouldn't be such a mystery to me.... but... what is a mystery run? sounds mysterious. :help

My car sounds like it is on its last leg. It is not a sound that usually comes from healthy cars and most of you will swear it is broken, despite my assurance that it is normal. If I were to leave my car idling in the BMW parking lot, it would scare away customers.

As far as what I've done to the car, the M3 is still in a mild state of tune, as I wait for the rest of the parts to arrive. I don't like to advertise, but I'll be more than happy to answer your questions in person.

The yellow car is a dedicated track car.

If the M3 is not in running condition, I'll bring the 330 out.:)

Bob,

It's a driving course where you should have a navigator to follow the course I laid out. To do so you must also understand the clues and also take notes while driving. We will adhere to all rules and regulations.

Reid,

So you took the plates off the Teg? If I remember right, the M3 was a beater. hahahaha Nice beater! It's probably nicer than my 750il!
Why is it a mystery rally? because no one knows where it'll end up...except for me!

It'll always be "street legal", so I can drive it on the street to and from the track.

Somehow, my M3 that was supposed to be my daily driver turned into a weekend/track car.:az:

Reid,
I guess you'll have to get another beater! Out of curiousity, did you send in your Spring Fling app?

What kind of car are the Koni's for?

97 Z3 1.9 I don't know, but it may fit the E36s.

It probably won't fit an E36, as the Z3's utilize E30 rear suspension.

Swap meet, eh?

Anyone want to buy some black 97 M3 luxury front seats?:)

Bryan,

Can you send me a PM letting me know when/where the Mystery Run will end? I can't do the actual run (i.e. I can't be stuck in the Coupe with Anna and my dog for two hours without killing them both) :) but I would like to meet up with you guys for a while.

Anyone interested in E30 M3 springs, MCoupe/Roadster springs, AC Schnitzer shift know, PIAA 9005 bulbs, E30 M3 Dinan chip, MOMO shift knobs??...i think I have some other stuff laying around..since we are having a swap meet

Let me know when you want to sell the stock headunit out of your M Coupe.;)

Also, my parts didn't show up this week (big surprise :az: ), so I'll be there with the M3.:)

Reid,

The headunit in the MCoupe is the Business tape deck with Changer controls. I have been meaning to upgrade to a CD head unit, so if you want this one let me know. I 'll let it go pretty cheap. See you all Sunday.

It was great seeing you guys today. Bob, too bad you weren't there.

It was a different kind of event where you get to see other parts of the island and have GREAT roads to drive on!

And the winner is...................thrlls! Wow! He was the only one whose point total was in the positive. Having a good co-pilot sure helps!

Mahalo Beastmaster!

:handclap
You did a wonderful job on making this run a mystery. And yes, it was all my co-pilot's doing that put me first.

It was nice to finally meet some of you on this forum. Good to put a face with the message.

We must do this more often to get more people involved.

Did George ever show up? :eyesscan

I was beat so I left right after Reid left. Called George on the cell ad he said he was going somewhere to have his picnic lunch. It turns out George called my house trying to get in touch with me sometime during the rally. When I spoke to him, he said he lost the instructional page somewhere @ the Pali. I really have to watch what I say as he thought we were really headed to Kakaako Park. It was a ruse w/ John B as he read the clues at Sandys and knew where we were ending. When George was leaving, he overheard me saying to John that I'll see him at Kakaako!

Great to meet all of you. Hopefully next year I will be able to actually "drive" the event. Here are some pics for those of you who missed out. It was clear that Z3 owners are the most enthusiastic BMWCCAer's.

Wow, this mystery run sounded like fun. Too bad I didn't know about it. I was on another cruise on Sunday with the NSX/S2000 guys though so I wouldn't have been able to make it. Maybe next time;)

wow that looked like fun. :)

IslandS52 - do the cops ever give you hassles about not having a front plate? i've been wanting to do that.

Next time you see those folks, try to convince them to take their cars out on the tracks for a change.

S2000's are great fun on the track and it's sad to see only a couple S2000 owners in hawaii indulge themselves in learning to actually drive the car.

I actually don't know too many of the S2000 guys. Colin Sato used to coordinate a lot of the driving school events and auto cross events and he and his wife races their S2000. I do't know if they still do it though. As for the NSX guys, I'll go see if anyone wants attend a driving school event one day.

DesmoBob: Nah the cops don't seem to care with my car, and it is in Waikiki constantly. I don't speed much and I guess I look fully insured so they don't bother. I don't run a front plate on any of my cars. When we had the "van cam" thing last year Anna got a ticket in the Audi, but I wrote the Judge a letter saying the mount broke and I just got it fixed :hehe Case dismissed.

Anyone else going to the BMW meeting at Kakaako Kitchen Tuesday nite?

 I'll be there!

Bob, as for the front plate thingie, I didn't have one on my 6er and my 750 for the life of the van cam. I just put it on recently to be in compliance. Actually, the 6er still doesn't have a plate since there is no mount on the euro bumper. I did get hassled by a cop for no plate when I was 25 and had my other souped up 6er. I guess I looked like a drug dealer or something.:dunno
