And I need to ask him a question.

Maybe someone else can help. I stopped downloading music back when napster was shutdown, and haven't done anything since.

My wife bought an IPOD, but I don't want to be held hostage by iTunes. Can someone send me some information via PM on optional sotware that I can run my iPod on and download music, and possibly how?

OR:
I could bring some beer by someones house, and they could give me a tutorial on how to do it.....

TIA
Jeff

download, limewire, bearshare lite, or some downloading agent. make sure you turn sharing off, i believe thats the illegal part. then in itunes find the folder you saved the music in and select it. itunes should start trasnfering the music and thats about all there is to it. after that itunes should automatically transfer the music.

So I need iTunes to load them onto the player, but I can use LimeWire or something like it to download them to the folder that iTunes looks at for music?

You can download mp3s from wherever you want. Just put it into itunes when done.

yes, you need itunes to upload the music to the ipod. but you may use whatever you like to download the music.

Hey Jeff, if I had invites I would invite you to Oink.CD. Much better than P2P networks and has a far bigger selection of music.

WRX I hope?

Easy to modify, but keep an eye out for the transmission on those.

'02s were infamously known for holding what Subaru guys described as "glass transmissions".

If you want to know, davidss on the boards (local guy) can help you with any questions regarding WRX's. He knows Subarus off the top of his head.

Yep, the iTunes software is the interface you need, but not necessarily songs exclusively from the iTunes online store. I have a bunch of mp3s on my iPhone and they work fine.

Need to get a car stereo interface... need to do a bunch of things, though. :shifty

The other alternative is torrent sites. Less risk of prosecution if you into the whole not going to jail thing.. :)
