So my glove box latch broke and I bought a new one to replace it. Well one of the pins in the lock barrel fell out and I thought I put it in the right way. I guess not because my key doesn't work in the barrel.
I tried to break the latch but it seems that they designed it where it can't be broken when it's locked, which makes sense.
How can I get in to my glove box? My owner's manual and my registration is in there. Thanks.
Ok, gonna try to describe this w/o pics.
Undo the latches under the GB in the pass. foot area. They are easily undone by hand.
Next, work the GB around until u can see the latch going up t o the top latch plate.
Then, get a long, thin, and narrow bit of metal. (I used a radio antena w/ the end smashed flat) And, using a hammer, smash the latch out of the lock plate from the right side of the glove box.

ditto CWB...look below the glovebox back toward the firewall...and you'll see two #6 (in diagram)...one on each side...of the carrier (#13)
Slide or pop #6 off of #13:

See part #3? Thats what uve gotta knock loose. Its a plastic thing with a metal latch on either side. The piece of metal you use needs to be no wider than the latches because the latch will recede back into the plastic housing. (it took me forever to figure this out with just a flashlight)
edit] LOL, when I bought my car it came with this problem. After I got it opened I found alot of birthday cards that belonged to the PO

I as well have this problem, and cannot get it opened. Pics anyone?
This is soo easy. Youll kick yourself in the face after you figure it out.
Follow the info above. The clips are easy to find/undo. just stick your head under there.
This is what your aiming for:

Specificaly the right one (its the only one you can get to from the right side:stickoutt:

You need a flat head screw driver or other object that is narrower than the metal latch itself as the latch recedes into its housing.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u239/cwbeas/Photo_070208_005.jpg
force the metal latch inside its housing, releasing the glove box. Youll must likely have to hit the end of your tool w/ a hammer(thats why my tool, not shown, was very long). Relax, the latch is already broken anyway.

Once you have the metal latch pushed in, you may have to hold it there and pull the glove box to the right to get the other side to release itself.

Better than to have locked yourself in your glovebox!
