View Full Version : Just Ordered Tires... Kevlar 03-24-2003, 11:09 PM Bridgestone S03 :) 245/35/19 (f) 275/30/19 (r) but they are backordered for 3 weeks :( SilverStreak 03-25-2003, 10:24 AM Good choice, Kev! Pretty fat/wide in the back... awesome! :buttrock SG John 03-25-2003, 10:33 AM Definitely a good choice  Did you really burn through your tires already?? Or were you just too anxious to put some big rubber in there :evil2 The M3 has some big fenderwells to fill! I wish it came from the factory with those sizes  Kevlar 03-25-2003, 11:09 AM Originally posted by SG John Did you really burn through your tires already?? Or were you just too anxious to put some big rubber in there :evil2 The M3 has some big fenderwells to fill! Tires aren't at the wear bars yet... but they will be soon. However, I've noticed much more slipping and sliding recently even on driving dry pavement. In the wet... hydropaning has become evident. Oddly enough it was like a one day the tires had good grip and then next day... they started slipping and sliding. No rhyme or reason... I'm guessing the tires just reached that 'point' where maximum grip was reduced to 'average'. t00h0t 03-25-2003, 12:09 PM I noticed the same thing.. one day the grip was GONE! I got S03s for mine last week.. however onlinetires.com sent me a wrong one... so now I have to wait again.... SilverStreak 03-25-2003, 12:18 PM S03's should help you out in the rain, too... Nope, my car came with Michelin Pilot Sports rayster 03-25-2003, 01:06 PM Kev, do you mind sharing how much you paid for them? I'm about to get new tires too (rears are pretty much gone, though the OEM Pilots on the front still have some tread left. ) What do you guys think about mixing brands? (i.e., I'm going to put on SO3's on the rear until the fronts wear out and then put the fronts on, or should I just switch all four at once? Seems kind of like a waste though...) Thanks. Kevlar 03-25-2003, 01:29 PM Kev, do you mind sharing how much you paid for them? $223/ea per front.. $249/ea per rear... a friend of mine was ordering a bunch of tires, so to save shipping, I ordered my 4 with his batch. What do you guys think about mixing brands? You can mix and match tires... as long as they are of comperable levels of 'stickyness'. Michelin Pilot Sports and Bridgestone S03s should be comparable. Granted, the front tires are more worn so they won't stick 'as much' as the rears. You'll probably notice more understeer... but you should be fine. I think it kinda looks ugly. Do you know what I mean? I'm trying to figure out a good section width would be? I guess it depends on the width of the wheel itself though.. The problem you are talking about is common with the OEM tire sizes on the 19" M3 wheels. The OEM tire size is 225/40/19 (f) and 255/35/19 (r). The tires look like they are stretched onto the rim. The tire sizes I ordered should fix that problem. quadcammer 03-25-2003, 03:54 PM i have so3s on my m3 and i got one of the first sets that tire rack had. i hat them, they suck. traction is horrible wet and dry. going with yokohama avs sports instead Kevlar 03-25-2003, 04:24 PM Originally posted by quadcammer i hat them, they suck. traction is horrible wet and dry. going with yokohama avs sports instead  You're the first person to ever say that... quadcammer 03-26-2003, 01:10 PM i think they changed their compound or something, cause mine are flat out crap. btw, how do u like the cinnamon leather in your car Kevlar 03-26-2003, 01:22 PM Originally posted by quadcammer btw, how do u like the cinnamon leather in your car Love it... really makes the interior stand out. I was going to tint the windows to help with the sun... but, it'll hide the interior. That's the only downside. HTownM3 03-27-2003, 01:32 AM hey kev, how many miles do you have on your pilots? i have the exact same setup...trying to gauge how long these tires will last. ///M LIFEŠ 03-27-2003, 03:44 AM Pilot sports are the best. Good choice kev :) |
