View Full Version : Rim Pro or Rim and Wheel Works or????
RisBMW 10-20-2007, 11:18 PM Anyone had work done by Rim Pro or Wheel Works? I have some DS1's that need just a little straigthening before tires are mounted.
Please share your experiences with these or other shops. I'm in central CT so anywhere in Mass/NH is good for me.
Thanks!!!
///AlpinePower 10-20-2007, 11:36 PM rimpro has mounted several of my tires over the years; never a scratch on the wheels.
rim and wheel works, however, had serious trouble merely straightening a friend's set of wheels.
boston328i 10-21-2007, 12:20 AM Wheel Works did a great job fixing my DS2's.
S.A.B. 10-21-2007, 02:56 AM I purchased my wheels from Rimpro. Great guys for sure.
cywfong 10-21-2007, 03:30 AM +1 Rimpro
NHskibm 10-21-2007, 10:10 AM I had rim pro straighten and refinish my M68s for my E36. Things came back perfectly round, paint looked good.
However, the paint they used is several shades darker than the OEM wheels. Luckily I had all 4 rims done at the same time otherwise there would have been a noticable difference. I've heard that has happened on numerous occasions.
I guess I don't really have an opinion. I'm satisfied with their work, but am a little disappointed in their painting.

i feel the same way. I just got mine back from rimpro, and they didnt have the original color so they asked me to paint all 4 of them, they first gave me a price of 550 $ for all 4, and when it came around to pay they bumped it up to 740$. The rims are a different shade now, and are straigh, no curbrash anymore, but i wouldnt call the paint perfect (lets say 90% to stock quality).
PS i only wanted 3 refinished.

M-technik-3 10-21-2007, 03:13 PM Were you given a good reason why the disparity in color? And why the price was higher than the quoted figure? I would have asked to see if they would knock off a 100 from the total as they were not the finished product you wanted.
Why did they not contact you prior to the increase in costs?
georgiev 10-21-2007, 03:19 PM we'll they asked me if i want all 4 done cause they didnt have the exact color of my comp-h's, so i didnt have a choice, had to get all four of them refinished.... the guy offered me to do all 4 and give me a discount because he didt have the right color. He calculated it and told me it will be 550$. next day when i brought the 4th wheels in the morning he handed me a sencond invoice for 740$ i was confused (the invoice still said that there was a discount!?), but i guess im too nice to ask (or feel like too much of a dick doing so).
georgiev 10-21-2007, 03:22 PM i just looked at the invoices, i guess he had only 3 wheels on the first and put the forth wheel on the second invoice. But he still should have told me the right price in the first place. I still wound have ayed 740$, but i just fell a little cheated.
RimPRO or buy new
i still agree with this though
M-technik-3 10-21-2007, 03:23 PM I have been satisfied by their work also, but I would have held them to the estimate with in reason. As long as you are happy thou I think that's the only thing that matters.

Gee Dan --- slightly jaded recommendation???? LOL saw your bio on BPG site that you are from there. Deeper into winter or early next spring I may be coming to visit to decide what to do with my motor.
Thanks to all for the feedback. I'm just looking for some mild straightening and new winter shoes mounted not refinishing them. Previous owner liked the potholes in NJ. Have Supperleggras for the summer.
raydoc 10-21-2007, 10:39 PM Haven't had any problems with Wheelworks with quite a few wheels worked on.
Dan, love you, love your diffs, but you are a tad bit biased, no?
diffsonline 10-21-2007, 11:08 PM LOL so I helped run the place for a few years...
www.rimpro.com 888-2-rimpro ask for Adam, tell him Dan sent you! or come to me directly, same price, and you get my service.
Was that a shameless BPG plug?

Shit all my secrets are out!
vertius 10-22-2007, 02:35 PM I had a few BBS wheels done at this place:

I don't think they refinish, but they do a real good job straightening wheels. They usually have a quick turn around time. They communicated by email quickly and kept me updated.

Is it true that you can now change rear diff ratios simply with a wheel refinishing??
bungy42 10-23-2007, 07:34 AM I've had wheels straightened at both RimPro and Rim And Wheel Works. I was vastly more impressed with the results at RimPro. In fact, I've got a wheel that needs work, and I'll be bringing it up there this winter.
