Someone decided to play bumper cars with me a few nights ago; luckily I reacted quickly, so the damage is minimal. Even so, I now have to get my bumper painted and possibly replaced. Now for the fun of matching 12 year old paint... uggh.
So I heard about Murray Motors' collision shop "Bodyworks," apparently they're the only one certified by BMW in the whole state. Sounds like it's probably the way to go, no worries about aftermarket parts or anything, they're OEM all the way. I just want to check first though, see if anyone has any experience with them firsthand. They're scheduled to start working on it Tuesday, but I'd really feel better about taking it there if I heard something from a previous customer first.

Thanks!

Was their estimate for the work reasonable?

( I need bodywork too )

I guess that's part of the thing that's causing me to seek a second opinion, though the guy stressed that it was only a prelim estimate, they came in at $600, where Prestige was $1600. That's a huge difference... Granted Prestige took only 5 min, where Bodyworks took about 45. However, the guy at BW seemed not to agree, or not to want to talk about the possibility of my bumper needing to be replaced, even after I repeatedly told him that the bumper is in fact broken. He just said they'll check it out when they get in there, but I'm sure a new bumper was not included in that estimate. I know these guys work closely with Statefarm, and certified or not, I'm just hoping this isn't a sign they're going to try to cut corners at the bidding of their insurance lords.

I replaced a bumper and hood, all repainted on a 98 328is last year, all for about $2000, as I recall. I had the work done at Nylunds.

hey man, there was a guy with a new 335i on the fall CCA drive, and looking at his car, he said that he had done over 10k in damage to the front of the car, and that the murray body shop did the work, and they did a great job. the car looked awesome. don't know if that helps, but i would trust them. you should have the right to tell them, however, if you want a new bumper. I'd fight that one tooth and nail, i'd be so pissed if someone hit my m3, so if a new bumper is what you want to restore looks, let them know.

I had Concourse Collision Center do my 540 m-technic full conversion, m5 trunk spoiler, paintless dent repair, and hood/side skirt repair. They did an awesome job, the owner Jeff is a super nice guy and lets you check out the work the whole time. Let me know if you want pics...?

I Just recently got a 330xi and ive taken it to body works for just an oil change and stuff. The guy helping out said there was a 330xi that smashed into a pole and when he showed me the car after they fixed it, you couldnt even tell. They are also very nice there. I would give it a try.

i have had the pleasure and the pain of working for murray motors for about six months at the dealership as a service drive valet. i would say that though all the people that work at bodyworks are excellent people, their work really doesnt hold up. i would see many cars (about 3 or 4 a week) that would come back from the shop that were not up to the standards that they should be. i mean if someone spends 120k+ on a mercedes sl55 they should be making sure that fitment and quality are top notch when it comes to repairs for that car. but time and time again we would see that these cars were just not up to standard. the technicians at the dealership are great, but for some reason the bodyshop is lacking.

at the dealership we also used cherry creek collision center, and they seemed to have great work for the cars.

So if you want my 2 cents, i would say go somewhere else, but OEM is great. good luck with everything.:)

This was me. I had my car over there to get some pretty extensive work done (was closer to 13.5k worth of damage). Bodyworks took care of the bodywork (obviously) and shipped it over to Murray to get the mechanical work done.

Bodyworks did an excellent job on my car, good paint, excellent fitting of the new body panels. I did have to send it back once to get everything fitted the way I wanted to, but they took care of it without any questions. They also have great customer service (and a cute receptionist). Talk to either Mike or Jeff. Apparently they have been around for a while, its just that Murray just bought them out I guess. Was convenient for me too that they are certified to do estimates for my insurance company (State Farm) so that they didn't have to send their own guy out and waste time.

Good Luck!

in response to racey:
yes rachel (the receptionist) at bodyworks is a great reason to go there. i do remember seeing your car in the lot and they did do a good job. i guess my rant that i went on earlier was really a question of fitment, i figured that if someone was going through the trouble of going through the dealer, they should get the correct fitment on the car back to stock. but i was very suprised after seeing racey's car what they actually accomplished with the repair.

so it was a rant, you can take it for what its worth, i just saw better work coming from cherry creek collision.:buttrock
