Let me first start by saying the lancer wasn't even broken in yet, It belonged to a friend of a friend of mine who just got it so he could only take it up to 5500 RPM. Damn that thing is quick!! Especially around 90 degree turns because of the rally tuned suspension. From a roll in 3rd gear we both nailed it and I was pulling on him top end but I didn't take it above 100 because my son was in the car. I probably pulled about a car on him and was still going. Thank goodness for 7900 redline. I'm scared to think how much faster he could go if he did basic upgrades. From a dead stop he couldn't keep up, probably because he couldn't redline it yet. He took me for a ride in it and its pretty fast but has short gears. I'm pretty sure that if I did launch control on him that he would have a hard time keeping up even if his car was fully broken in. I'm gonna run him again when he brakes it in and post the results.

I'm willing to bet that he'll prob whup you at a stoplight when hes fully broken in... I remember the days where i did 5000-6000k drops in my friends 94 AWD talon tsi with stutter launch (builds boost in idle).. Up up and away!....:buttrock

When people start modding them ( basis of aftermarket will be available immediately/very quickly due to the millions of DSMs out there already) they are gonna kick some serious ass...including my own:(

I went for a drive in Ferrarokids new red Evo VIII this weekend.
I goes like hell around turns, and will launch fast once he does all his upgrades.
A friend has already put together a Stage 1 kit that pumps out 310 WHP! That's with stock turbos!
The car in stock form pulls really nicely like a Japanese turbo car. Good midrange kick.
Pros:
Brembos all around
Sick handling
Adjustable (BIG) wing
aluminum body panels
cheap mods with great power.
Racing seats and stearing wheel

Cons:
Unsporty styling that doesn't stand out...
Interior dash is really ugly and cheap
Tail lights are have that ricey chrome finish... Terrible!
Low production

Overall it's an amazing deal for the dollar. I would say it's essentially a more tricked version of the WRX..

I had a deposit down on one until recently. They are definitely going to be fast on the street and the track. Supposedly into the mid 12s with relatively minor bolt ons in the hands of some tuners already.

As for taking an e46 m3, both stock, the m3 should have the edge. It did with the evo 7 in Evo magazine, a year or so ago, anyway. And that was with a 7000 rpm clutch drop on the evo. Of course, any evo that's going to try to race an m3 will probably have some basic mods done, and will probably wipe the floor with it.

A C32 beat an EVO8? Wow... I find that surprising... perhaps Mitsu has talked their car up a bit too much? :dunno

The EVO basically has the same 4G63 motor that the 2G Eclipse/Talons have in them. If that is the case, the bottom end is good for about 500 HP on stock internals. I just hope the tranny is a bit stronger than the past ones. If not, there will be alot of broken EVO's once they start getting modded.

Welcome Corey. I noticed that a lot more 'Stang/'Cobra' owners are popping up in here.

Welcome..welcome.

Evo VIII's have great numbers. I can't wait to test drive one.

maybe with perfect shifting it could take an e36 by .1 sec. I still think it is one of the ugliest cars iv ever seen. its a freakin beetle that someone tried to make into a box and then fix. very sad

The EVO is ugly in front but badass. With a Japanese bumper it would look fairly nice.

What a fucking fast car... Our BMWs were not made for drag racing :(

Nice race. I think the older EVO's look better than the new one. Just change the front bumper to a different one. I wonder why Importpepe hasn't responded to this post. He is getting an EVO VIII very soon. Nonetheless, they are badass cars that have potential for a lot of power because of the turbo
