It had the chrome side gills. Is that the M5 engined version? It looked a little "less smooth" than the Alpina seems to look.

I've seen 3 Z8 cars (2 black, 1 silver) and 2 M/Z3Coupes (1 red, 1 Silver). Commoners! :stickoutt

yup. that's the M5 version. A family friend of my dad's has an Avus blue one. He brought it over once. It made my M look very sad . . .

The Z8 has an M5 engine.

The Alpina has the 4.6 from the X5.

The new 760 goes like a rocket and the M5,what can i say.

I like that car a lot. The only problem is that the average person sometimes thinks it's a Z3 or Z4.
Not so great when you pay $120K+ for a car and people identify it is as its $40K sybling.

THe dealer here has the Alpina model...very very sexy i assure you of that

I've driven a few of them, including the Alpina. I like the real one better. The exhaust note of the Alpina sounds weak, like a 540 with an exhaust, not that raspy rumble like the M5. I also dont't like the auto. If I had a spare 130K I think I'd find a nice low mileage used 2002.

Bring it from the dead. I was jogging about a year ago when I saw one ;) for the very first time. My jaw literally dropped, and the guy (who seemed to be in his late 30's) just looked over at me, began to laugh (Since I stopped running completely) and gave me the thumbs up :cool::wave:

That's too funny.

I remember the first time I saw one was while I was driving my Jeep. I looked over and saw the 507 style side grills and my jaw dropped. I wanted to rev at him just as a joke but didn't. The light turned green and he floored it and flew past me. Next light, he burned some rubber and all i could see was smoke and then him flying past me again. Third light, he did it again. Except this time a cop switched on the lights and proceeded to pull him over. lol. It was a fun experience.

If I was the guy in the Z8 I'd be like, "c'mon officer, look at my car...gimme a break". lol

Believe it or not, my father just bought a used 2000 Z8, Silver exterior, black interior w/ 5500 miles on it. Car was located in San Fransisco, and we are having it shipped in an enclosed container. I think we got one of the best deals in the country.

I've driven about 6 of them in Columbus (most of them black, and silver, one red one), about a week and a half ago, I got the chance to drive the Alp. Version one.......Yeah I don't think they should make a car like that in Auto, but it's still beautiful........and freakn' fast as hell.
