I was thinking about replacing the head gasket and noticed this hose

After trying to find its home, I noticed this

Is that where it supposed to be connected? I had the engine mounts replaced a few weeks ago and that's when it probably got disconnected.

Thanks

why are you "thinking" about getting the head gasket replaced? If its blown replace it. If it's not, why bother?

it's going to be my excuse to power coat the valve cover

after looking at the second picture, I’m starting to wonder if that black hose is supposed to go on the bottom and the blue/black hose is supposed to be at the top

You're going to replace the head gasket so you can powder coat the valve cover? Why not just replace the valve cover gasket?

Do you re-roof your house when it's time to change a light bulb?

The blue hose you have does connect to that nipple you see in the picture...It is for emission purposes, nothing will happen if you dont connect it, except you might not pass smog ;)
And please don't replace your headgasket if you don't have to....it is not as easy as taking a few bolts out and putting them back in...there a lot of "one time" use items that must be replaced if removed ;)

I had a feeling that might be the case. Much easier job...
