View Full Version : Lamin-x Blotches
millertimebmw03 10-19-2007, 12:29 PM so I'm still waiting to hear back from lamin-x about the blotchy spots on the headlight. I understand that it takes some time for it to go away but I have yet to install my (new) set of lights in the car untill the spots are gone.
Anyone have this happen?
BCinNC 10-19-2007, 12:50 PM I just purchased a new set of Apexcone replacement headlights for my 98 M3. I almost ordered the Lamin-x stuff, but I was worried about blotches. I'd be interested to see pictures of them and hopefully they will clear up.
millertimebmw03 10-19-2007, 01:17 PM I'd say that 90% is gone but there hasn't been any improvement past the initial bit.

vadim321go 10-19-2007, 01:47 PM all of mine are gone, there were some air bubbles but u gotta do a good job putting it on, the really tiny stuff will dissapear after a few weeks.
millertimebmw03 10-19-2007, 02:29 PM how can you tell if you have bubbles and what do you do to fix it?
Anthony914 10-19-2007, 07:08 PM mine look perfect, maybe once you get them on the car the heat from the lights will help it?
turb0charged 10-19-2007, 07:14 PM I just put it in the sun for a day and it works wonders
euro96 10-19-2007, 07:33 PM give it time....i was doubtful.....but trust me it goes away
are you waiting to install your headlights until the blotches are gone? dont worry about them
xsperf 10-19-2007, 08:08 PM did you use water and soap, habbie told me not to do that, he told me to use rubbing alcohol, thats what i did, and 99 percent of it went away after a few days, and a few weeks later its all gone
millertimebmw03 10-20-2007, 11:03 AM I used a spray bottle of water. And I've had them on my dresser next to the window right in the sun. but still some remain. ??
euro96 10-20-2007, 11:27 AM use clean water in a spray bottle....
why would you use soap?
vadim321go 10-20-2007, 01:06 PM stop worrying about it and put them on ur car. use rubbing alcohol to clean the surface of ur headlights first. DONT USE SOAP AND WATER, soap remain on ur headlights where rubbing alcohol evaporates.
millertimebmw03 10-20-2007, 01:37 PM I used alch. and only clean water in the spray bottle.
G. P. Burdell 10-20-2007, 03:03 PM Similar blotches have appeared when I put stone guard film (the 40 mil sheet stock sold by Bavarian Autosport) on my last two sets of fog lights. After installing the film, I ran the fog lights a few times over the next couple of weeks to cook the moisture out of them and clear them up.
seeyalaterrr 10-20-2007, 06:44 PM Mine looked exactly the same, it will go away.
millertimebmw03 10-20-2007, 07:31 PM Ok, I'll just wait! thanks!
QuickSilv3r 10-21-2007, 05:22 PM I just put it in the sun for a day and it works wonders
Yeah I'd say heat works the best. Drive around with your xenons on all the time, the heat from the HIDs will even make the lamin-x clear up. Mine were crystal clear after about a month.
