Does anyone know why t he vert top deck lid will only close in the stowed position? when I put the top up it will not shut no matter how much you position the ass end bars or trip microswitches. The manual and all the PARKED top help files barely touch on the subject of the deck lid other than hittring the runk. What activates the deck lid closed in the top up position? it works fine when you put the top down.
ALSO after pulling the top emergency lever and trying to "re-initalize" the power EM top, the deck lid motor wont LOCK IN even tho the splines mesh fine, help?

That is NO help but thanks for trying. My problem IS that when the top goes UP the deck lid will not close no matter how you play with the bars. It has nothing to do with folding into the trunk or top position locking out the switch.
My Top cover/deck lid will not close when putting the top UP
ALSO I cant get the deck lid motor to lock back into place after the emergency top release has been used. The splines mesh but the motor wont stay. anyone?

I have the same problem I'm going to just take it to a shop next summer and get it fixed, from what i've heard its the tension straps!

If the top gets in the way of the storage lid when the lid is either opening or closing then that is likely loose tension straps. However that is not the problem described by the OP.

Is the problem that the storage lid doesn't engage the latching mechanism at all ? Or does it engage and then the mechanism doesn't pull the lid closed all the way ?
The deck lid motor operates the deck lid through a cable linkage that you can find starting at the linkage below the motor. I'm wondering if that cable is hung up somewhere, causing both your problems. When the lid is latched and the motor is in place that cable is very tight.

The top lid motor requires an excessive amount of force to pop back in. It helps to have someone apply pressure to the lid while you do this. Yes, I do mean excessive amount, not just regular effort. You have to squeeze it into its place very hard with your hands. :) Do not use any tools please as that would be too much.

I had the same problem and adjusting the S1 and S2 microswitches built into the top motor solved my problem. Maybe it will work for you as well. Good luck -- I know how frustrating it can be.
Regarding the top LID motor, be sure to pull on the black lever (in front) while you're pushing the motor (in back) into place. Then it will fully engage.
