Hello,

I have the following problem: A while a go my driver side window motor was gone and had to be replaced. I purchased a used one and had it installed by my mechanic. It worked fine for about two months. However, right now I have the following problem: Whenever I close the door and the window goes up to align with the convertible top, the window motor makes a terrible grinding noise as if it tries to push the window further up than possible. I want to prevent this motor from being broken. Does anyone know what I can do about it?

thanks,

Damon

I have just replaced mine from ebay after it was making a terrible grinding sound every 4-5 inches or so and the window would stick until i tugged it a bit. I belive it was the white plastic !"worm" or "screw" type cog that was knackered in the motor.

BTW replacing the motor without removing the regulator arms etc was a LOT easier thean I thought!

Total cost to me £10.50 for the motor off ebay and about 1 hour 30 mins WITHOUT all the right tools and no experience.

Cost if at garage £140.00 for motor and probably £80 at specialists?-£110 at a stealers?

WHAT a saving..

Sound like the plate the motor is on is loose. Happened on mine too. 4 10 year old fatigue rivets.
