Yep.

Just wanted to drop in to thank Terry for a great product. I ordered my JB2 a bout a week and a half ago now (I think...days are getting long lol) after getting some insight from Terry and installed it when I get back from Vegas on Tuesday night.

Mind you, I've never done anything under the hood of any car beyond filling fluid levels and giving/getting jumps...so it was all brand new to me.

It took me no more than 40 minutes to break everything down and install the JB2. I think I could have went faster, but you know how it is...when you're installing something for the very first time, you don't know how much force is too much force...and who wants to know they just broke something on their 2 month old 335xi, amirite? :-D

Anyway, it was easy as pie after figuring out how things in the ECU come apart (took a minute of staring and pulling)...very simple to hook the JB2 in. Nothing a 14 year old couldn't be trusted to do.

Reversed my disassembly and I was just about good to go.

I will say this, though: getting those damn vacuum lines switched around to bypass the solenoid made me want to scream. I think it's human nature that when something gives you the impression that a thing you are about to mess with is "fragile" or could "break off", you get real weak about it. You know...you start thinking about that damn near $50k losing its warranty. Such was the case with switching those hoses, as prying them off by pulling straight up was damn near impossible. I finally got some pliers and twisted (must have made 3 full turns) then pulled hard and they finally would come apart. But I tell you I must have spent 30 minutes *just* on the hoses. Ugh.

Bottom line, though: It got them, nothing got broken and my grand total time (remember, I'm a n00b) was probably 1.25 hours. I suspect I could do it again in 30 minutes or less. I started her up with no problems to speak of, as expected. No lights, no rough idles...all was perfect. The video on his website + the downloadable instructions make the thing almost n00b-proof, really.

and wow boys...you wanna talk about power? my car now moves like a 335 should. lol. I now can't wait to leave work just so that I can get on and off freeway ramps. I can't recommend it enough. There is no better deal anywhere. Pick this up unless you either just like to waste money or don't like to be pushed back a little in your seat. :-)

Thanks again, Terry.

Thanks again Adrian, and I appreciate the writeup! Those vacuum lines are tricky, but once you've done it once you get faster. I can usually do them in 2 minutes now. So far never broken a solenoid nipple in around 25 installs. ;)

It does help to have the hoses warm and I used a hair dryer to heat them up. Pliers are a must. Double check to make sure the short hose doesn't break after install as mine did. It seems the tight turn was too much for it. I just bought a 6" length to replace and will use a 2" piece if I take the car in for service after re-routing the hoses to stock.

i'll keep an eye on that little hose, then. thanks for that tip. :-)

is it okay for those hoses to get so hot? it popped my hood to check out how everything was going and those puppies were baking. they're not touching the engine, but they are touching other stuff.

No problem, they get very hot under there under normal use.
