Hey guys, I have had trouble with the sunroof of my 328 XI. It seems like it won't go all the way forward. The little lever is not being responsive and everytime i start my car I get the something wrong with my sunroof warning. Do I have to take it to the dealer to fix?

of course you do. That's what the warranty is for. In my previous car they replaced the motor that drives the moonroof.

Just reset it. Press the button so that it goes through the whole motion of tilt, then close once or twice. Couple of people took it in only to find that this is all the tech had to do.
Of course if that doesn't work, then oh well, take it in.

Had the same problem with my 335i coupe. Took it in to the dealer and a tech came out and re- programmed it in two minutes. All he did was play with the switch like i did. But i guess theres a certain way of doing it. Dont play with it , just bring it in.

To clarify what others said, hold the button down the whole time it's going through the cycle.

You need to press the button down (up actually), for over a minute, maybe two.
It worked for me thanks to the advice on this thread.

Holding the button doesn't program it, it only re-initializes the stop points for anti-trap.

Take it in to the dealer like i said. It took him (the tech) less than 2 minutes to re-program it.
