wokke 10-18-2007, 07:22 AM Quite often I receive PMs or emails starting similar to this:
"Hello, you seem to have a lot of parts and resources and I need a part that I can not find. I am looking for....." :help
It is true, I do have very good connections and dare to say that I know quite a lot about BMWs as well. And I'm happy to help since I'm an E24 enthusiast like all the folks posting on this great forum.
But if I start searching immediately coming back with an answer in real time it is quite disappointing not to receive any response for more than a week, especially if you see that the sender of the PM/email is active in the forum. I'm not making any profit on this stuff, but I want to give my sources some sort of feedback like "too expensive, not needed anymore" etc.
So please, if you need anything where you believe I can help due to my experience, my connections or just because I live in BMW homeland contact me anytime and I'll get back to you in real time. But don't leave me hanging in the air with no response because I don't want to risk my reputation I have as a reliable customer with my suppliers.
Thanks
Wolf
BTW, this experience is not limited to this forum, by no means.
detroit635csi 10-18-2007, 03:08 PM your car makes me hot
detroit635csi 10-18-2007, 03:10 PM i have a set of the french yellow hella glass lenses for my low beams... but the buckets are apparently different than the us ones on mine b/c of the long posts that come off from the lenses i cannot mount them ...do i need the euro buckets or am i just screwed? let me know...
alpinacsi 10-18-2007, 04:07 PM I would like to think that you are not referring to me but that does look like one of my post where I was inquiring about an air box. Might be a miss understanding but I can not seem to find a return to my last response. As with many of us here my experiance is also not limited to this forum or this type of forum and I have many deals being conducted at any one time due to the nature of my busness as well as my hobbies. If this is directed to me, a PM or email could probably correct the problem. I do receive hundreds of emails and PM on a daily basis and some are then directed to my employees and others are handeled by me directly. I am waiting for a response on how to handle payment based on your PM from the 13th. If this is not directed to me then I apologize as I do try to be prompt with my responses eventhough the response that I made was on the 15th which was the next business day(not a week later).
Todd
wokke 10-18-2007, 05:28 PM I'm not referring to anyone specifically, also not to you although I indeed quoted part of a PM I received from you since it has been the most recent one. If I would I would send a PM or a mail directly and not post in the public. As I wrote it happens too often (at least in my opinion) which made me open this thread.
I apologize in case I have insulted you which has not been my intention. :love

e24mpwr 10-18-2007, 05:39 PM Sorry to thread-jack, but I just realized you live very close to Dusseldorf, which is where some very good friends of mine live (Kaiserswerth). Next time I get there, I hope to buy you a beer! (...and gawk at your car a bit...) :)
I've been checking out your site - would love to see what your BMW RC035-038 nogaro silver wheels would look like on my car. They are probably better for dark colors, but I love that look! (I rarely like two-tone wheels). Unfortunately, my iX needs a clutch more than my M635 needs to look better... :(

I don't know what the US buckets look like but there are indeed differences in the Euro buckets:
pre '82 E24 (E12 based Series 6er)
'83 to 87 (E28 based Series 2 6er)
88/89 (E34 based Series 3 6er) using the elipsoid lens system.
What year is your E24?

yeah, sounds like a great idea, I'm just on the left side of the Rhine (15 min. to Duesseldorf airport). Unfortunately they don't know how to brew a good beer in this area, but Bavarian beers are imported meanwhile - Bavarian cars as well BTW.

detroit635csi 10-18-2007, 06:19 PM mine is an 86, i'll snap a couple pics and put up a link to realoem so you can see the diagram and possibly adivse my next move.. Thanks!
detroit635csi 10-18-2007, 06:20 PM also wokke, what suspension set up are you running on your car, its stance looks soooo mean...i love it!!
alpinacsi 10-18-2007, 07:07 PM I need to apoligize to Wokke as it was a misunderstanding. He quoted part of one of my replies as a reference and struck a nerve. I have had a day at work that has been very frustrating. My local business taxes here went up 320% for 2006 and I recently got the bill for 2007 and had another 300% increase and had a scheduled meeting with them today. Morons! My local tax bill for 2005 was just over $1000 then for 2006 it was $4200 and now for 2007 it is $17,000. That is 1600% increase in 2 years. :mad

standard BILSTEIN shocks and shorter springs (car is 50mm lowered). Here some more pictures from the same trip my signature picture was taken at:

Thanks Todd and also from my side apologies for my quote not considering potential consequences.
I have noticed that the value of the US$ has decreased quite a bit over the last two years, but not 1600%. This is insane. Can't you move your business to another location with better tax rates? I bet Coca Cola has not had such an increase (they are headquartered in Atlanta, aren't they?).
alpinacsi 10-18-2007, 07:41 PM Yes Coke is in ATL. My problem is not the tax rate but the way they have assessed the value. They had never been in my facility until today and I do not own the property; I am leasing the building. It was an clerical error and I did not notice for 2006 but really noticed when we went back and reviewed after seeing 2007. I can understand something close to the 2006 bill but they are "checking into" the 2007 bill. My inventory was less at the years end this time and my equipment had depreciated another year. I did buy another fork lift this year but it was not that expensive. My accountant told me to calm down and have a few beers; then he will give me his bill.

alpinacsi 10-19-2007, 04:04 PM detroit635csi, if I understand correctly, you want to install the post 5/82 yellow low beams in with your US high beams and have US buckets. First you can not mix the US and euro lens unless you have the early euro lens (pre 5/82) that are retained by the trim ring. To use the yellow lens that you have, you will need the euro mounting assembly and the correct euro lens to match the yellow ones that you have now. Make sense? Then you have the wiring to workout.

I do have complete Euro (past 82) headlights incl. brand new frames and used but good high & low beams and the chrome rings. I think I even have a headlight washer system as well. Interested in any of that stuff?
The headlights I would sell for US$200,-, the headlight washer stuff I need to check first if I still have it and if it is working. If it is I would be asking US$300,-
Cheers
Wolf

I actually did them for my M635 but then decided to go for the elipsoid version incl. HID from the last model. So these are left over and sitting in my garage since certainly a year. A few more months won't make a difference.
