View Full Version : Getting the shark itch!!
nicobaires 10-17-2007, 01:46 PM Guy's,
I've been looking around for a while for a 635csi around my area and I recently came across an 87, 5 speed with 160,000 miles. I haven't gone to look at it yet but i plan to go this weekend.
I think the car is sitting at a dealer and the asking price is $3950. The say its clean in and out.
I plan to use this as my DD.
The only thing that worries me are the miles, what do you think, should I go for it? Is the price good? Any advice will be greatly appreciated
alpinacsi 10-17-2007, 02:15 PM That is not bad for miles considering the age and these will go many more than that if properly maintained. I would not sell my 86 for anything near that so the price sounds very good if the condition is what they say.
nicobaires 10-17-2007, 02:21 PM Here's the link to it. Please no one snatch this up from me!!

Car looks like it's in real nice condition, I'd go for it. Just see if the car comes with any service records. Common things to look for in a 6 are; front-end suspension components, no head gasket leak, rust in wheel wells, rear lights, etc. The M30 is a great engine and is very reliable. Even comes with e39 rims :).
sixseries 10-17-2007, 03:08 PM thats an awesome color. go for it
nicobaires 10-17-2007, 03:11 PM I'm gonna call the guy to see if i can go see it this Sat.
alpinacsi 10-17-2007, 03:39 PM Looks good from the pics and it is a late 87 with the world bumpers. Not many 5spds in 87. Looks like a nice find but it almost sounds too good. Look it over closely and check for rust and/or damage repair but you may have found a really nice one.
nicobaires 10-17-2007, 03:41 PM i found an even nice one but i want a finders fee for this one!!!!!!!!
pm me for more info!!

Are the world bumpers the euro bumpers?
Lsixer 10-17-2007, 05:10 PM Your in NJ? The advice I would say that if you get any significant snowfall, it has been my experience that these cars are NOT good in the snow. Now I have larger/wider tires on mine and I only managed to get stuck once in a minor snow storm (never, ever again). I'll tell you, now, it only comes out when there is warm weather and NO chance of precip.
If you go with it as a DD, you'll need some quality snow tires for certain.
WOW! For that price, and what we can see from the limited pics, it looks like a steal! Better look REAL good at everything man.
nicobaires 10-17-2007, 05:14 PM I have an avalanche that I can use for the winter and also a 1990 Audi coupe quattro so I'm set for the winter. I am trying to sell the quattro though to get this,
Yeah, I can't wait to go see it on Sat., hopefully it's stil there
nicobaires 10-17-2007, 07:48 PM Ok, I called the guy, he told me the car is in good condition, it was painted black, he said the original color was grey and fading, I asked if it was in an accident and he said no. No rust, everything works, etc.
The paint thing scares me but I'll go check it out anyway on Sat.
nicobaires 10-21-2007, 08:01 PM Went to look at the car on craigslist today and man, what a mess. The car looked great in the pics but it was falling apart. Hardly any of the electrical interior stuff worked, there was rust , bad paint job, etc. The hunt continues.
