Just noticed this, and im sure it was a mistake on the webmasters part in quickly putting the sub-forums together. The years for the E24 are incorrect. It spans fom 1976 to 1989.

Sorry if i came off harsh to the creator haha. I think we are going to like the new set-up. Kinda feels like we have a place to call our own now. Not that i minded sharing!! -Jeff gbelton 10-17-2007, 12:09 PM Well, well, well... As you stated, your first gripe.:devillook Be careful what you read on WikiPedia, not everything is 100% accurate. Nonetheless, my research has uncovered that in 1977, this was the first year of the U.S. E24. I of course default to the E24 group's final decision or opinion... So have at it, start a poll and let the best year WIN! We'll change it of course. :) jbd5015 10-17-2007, 12:15 PM Well... According to the realoem website, the first european 633 was made in october of 75, but that is model year 76. So i say 76!! -Jeff XTimServoX 10-17-2007, 03:26 PM the '85 end date sticks out more for me...i bet we'll have more people wondering where they can talk about their '86-'89 cars than people wondering where they can talk about their '76 cars. amibuggnu 10-17-2007, 06:23 PM The E24 was produced from 1976 to 1989. End of story. With all due respect, I don't give a crap that the US model came out in '77, this is a global forum. In addition, I think we need to reconsider the description. The original description/suggestion thread had almost universal agreement that 'travelling wealthy executive' was an inappropriate and poor description, but that is the only part that has remained from the two-page discussion. Who among us is a wealthy travelling executive? Jeff had crafted some excellent words with which to describe the E24. Please amend the description to something more in keeping with what the members had suggested and requested. JayM 10-17-2007, 08:01 PM Yep, '76-'89 (despite the US-base of the board, I think the Euros should be included - and I certainly don't think we should forget the '86-89 models :D). I also agree that the forum description could be better. That said, it's a good idea to separate out the E24 from the new model. I'm sure things will get sorted with a little time. Have a little patience folks! BBiggs 10-17-2007, 11:00 PM How about 2 sub forums, old and new? up through 80's and 2004(?) forward?..... Seeker 10-18-2007, 12:23 AM How about 2 sub forums, old and new? up through 80's and 2004(?) forward?..... think that's how it is now. could slice it up even more and do e12 based and e28 based models.. but that'd just be silly.. or would it? yea.. give 'em some time to sift thru and tweak it up a bit.. whoever's workin on it is doing it in their spare time.. not like they are gettin paid for it Lsixer 10-18-2007, 10:27 AM Ellis has a point. For me, I am not wealthy, nor much of a traveler. But, I really dont pay too much attention to that header anyway. I do not think we should sub-divide any further by specific models. I think the two generations split is sufficient, for what thats worth. GWL 10-18-2007, 12:27 PM Ellis has a point. For me, I am not wealthy, nor much of a traveler. You guys crack me up. I get up in the morning just to see your posts, really I do. Maybe I need some help...:help Header: I believe this definition was to represent what the 6 Series (E24) at/during that time frame ('76-'89) was geared/targeted too. Of course now that is not the case...Yet in 2004-Current, it is true. But I bet in ~20 years the E64 will be inexpensive to own (Somewhat) and some new 6 Series breed will take it's place, no? ?Solution? Tell me (Us) exactly what you would like the header to say...:devillook Start a seperate thread or add to the 6 Series root (Thread Description Post) Sub-Sub-Forums: I think for now we are good with a 6 Series|E24 & 6 Series E63/64 sub forums. I have no problem with the Header describing the market segment on which the six was originally focused. Maybe because I remember when it was introduced in the US in 1977 and not being able to even hope to own one when I bought my 77 320i. |
