autox320 10-16-2007, 10:36 PM replace :DIn-tank fuel pump
barry8108 10-16-2007, 10:51 PM but why would it work on start up and allow the car to rev in nuetral if it wasnt working?, i can get one at the pic u pull tomorrow, but just wondering how that would stop it from accelerating, thanks
SLoWz3R 10-17-2007, 12:51 AM Check for vacuum leaks and compression. Otherwise. fuel mixture could do that.
Red Ribbon Army 10-17-2007, 12:52 AM Just wondering but with all that work why don't you change your vacuum hoses while you're at it. I know it's a bit basic but it's good to start with the basics, I know they can look fine while being hard and having cracks.
edit-damn beat me to it^
jrcook320 10-17-2007, 02:41 AM It's likely a lean issue. All the fixes listed above are potential causes for lean mixture. vacuum leaks, low system fuel pressure caused by a weak pump or clogged filter, incorrect control pressure (too high), or incorrectly adjusted fuel mixture.
Check for vacuum leaks. Try adjusting your mixture slightly richer (1/8 turn at a time max).
The in-tank pump is the least likely, early k-jet cars didn't have an intank pump at all.
ProjectP 10-17-2007, 08:08 PM dont forget to check timing, do that before adjusting the mixture

I'm having the exact same problem. what did this turn out to be for you?

Mybe so, but a non-working pump is alot more restictive than just a pipe. You also need to make sure the screen on the bottom is clean.
