I let my brother borrow my 325e while I was in Brazil for the past 3 weeks. It started leaking coolant while he was driving it, so he parked it at his place and borrowed another car.
I returned from Brazil this morning, went over to his place this afternoon, and checked it out. The coolant is leaking from the water pump. I don't really want to deal with replacing it, and I am going to be picking up a new daily driver soon (E39 5er Touring), so this might be a good time to get rid of the 325e.
Vitals:
- 1985 325e 4-door.
- Painted "Chrysler Sebring Green" about 10 years ago. Good quality paintjob at the time, now it's showing fading and wear.
- Odometer shows 236,000 miles if I recall correctly.
- 5,000 - 10,000 miles left on Yokohama tires. Front left tire has a nail (slow leak).
- Has an entire exhaust system from a 325iS.
- Tons of small problems...it's a beater/daily driver. You don't have to care about it. Mechanically it's been reliable as all getup...but it ain't gonna win a beauty pageant.
Has cracked grey leather sport seats from an '88 325is in front. The thigh supports need new rails, other than that they are cracked and in crappy shape -- but they're sport seats.
I dunno what else to put. It's reliable and it's $500. Someone come take it off my hands and beat it to death while your (nicer) E30 or other nice car gets weekend/special occasion status!
Here's a few photos. The BBS RS wheels on the car in the photos aren't included -- it comes with bottlecaps.
