most likely you'll have to expand your horizons. it will be tough to find one in RI alone, its like the size of my backyard. a little traveling never hurt anyone.

good luck.

For 800 you are mostlikely (in all reality) going to find one that dosent run, or if it does, is shall we say "on its death throngs." Emm, in the Tri-State area, i would be looking into something more along the lines of sub 1200? For a running 320, if you are looking for a 323 or a 320/6 think more around 2-3k.

I personally wouldent mind buying another 320i in better condition for $2-$3000 looking back. :)

go test drive them, I saw one for 800 that i found out when I got there hadn't been registered in 5 years and an other that when I test drove it the brakes failed, however lucky for me on the third one I found one that ran very well had relatively low miles with a few minor problems and was able to pretty much steal it, and found 200 worth of change in the trunk along with 200 worth of books

moral of the story is just be persistent and you can find decent ones for cheap, lots of people on this forum lucked out and got them cheap.

You can get tons of good ones for under $800, some great ones are under $300. It's irrlevant if it runs or not. They often quit running for silly reasons and never get fixed. Plus a running one will just quit in short order. You will have to work on it, and soon, whether its running or not. Even a $2k-$3k one if it hasn't been driven daily will start breaking things if you start using it.

+1 I picked up mine for $500 with some vacuum leaks and other minor issues.
