LOL brandon5069 10-15-2007, 05:23 PM He didn't get an M5 :rofl He got a Carerra GT :devillook reelizmpro 10-15-2007, 05:26 PM I'm just kidding. I think he said he got an M tech kit recently in another thread so I assume that's what everyone wants to see. All roads seem to end up at the M5 though. That is the ultimate E39. Some guy just offered me an 00 silver/tan M5 w/70,000 miles for 23K. I was so tempted but that's almost 3 times what I paid for my 528 and I just don't like the vertical stitching on M5 seats. You gotta pay to play though. Brandon...lmfao. e39dream 10-15-2007, 05:35 PM this is the useless thread of the day. so gumbi got something- that much is clear. excellent. brandon5069 10-15-2007, 06:09 PM this is the useless thread of the day. so gumbi got something- that much is clear. excellent. We all know that the regulars stick around just to see what other folks are doing ;) Gumbi if you need to borrow my Nikon D40 just let me know. I wanna see the tape get cut, then the box opened, and then the popcorn falling out and getting blown by the wind and you have to chase it and then when you finally grab it you look back and the popcorn stuff is all over the place behind you because in your haste to grap the rebelious popcorn you tapped the box therefore unsettling the rest of the popcorns and allowing them to catch wind and blow all over the place..... AND THEN I wanna see you pull the parts out of the box after saying "screw those little popcorn craps! I'll clean them up later", and then I wanna see the pic of your face as you look on the beauty that is M tech....then I wanna see pics of the bumpers, trim, porkchops etc. K? xxpanipuri 10-15-2007, 06:17 PM wow we really have nothing better to do except wait around here to see what gumbi bought whats all of our problems! Busta 10-15-2007, 06:19 PM this is the useless thread of the day. so gumbi got something- that much is clear. excellent. Agreed. Gumbi4u 10-15-2007, 06:27 PM WOW!!! Didnt expect to see this here. I have the kit. Its sitting here and I have no damn Camera right now. I will get it back in the morning and I will start snapping shots. I was going to drop off the parts to get painted but I need to snap shots first. The minute I get some shots taken, They will be up on here in detail with part numbers. So dont worry, this thread will turn into something useful. brandon5069 10-15-2007, 06:28 PM Ken....umm....do you need me to come down there and deal with CC for you? I have a couple somoan friends that enjoy breaking stuff :D Gumbi4u 10-15-2007, 06:31 PM Ken....umm....do you need me to come down there and deal with CC for you? I have a couple somoan friends that enjoy breaking stuff :D Damn right I need someone to come down here and teach these scumbags a lesson. They did repair it a third time and this time used another repair CO so lets see how it works. Fedex says tommorow morning delivery. I hope to see it in one piece! 98bimmer 10-15-2007, 06:36 PM you got it from bekkers right? FP5241 10-15-2007, 06:37 PM I find the lack of pics disturbing...... :shifty brandon5069 10-15-2007, 06:56 PM I'll send reinforcements but I need to know what happened with the popcorns. And if you tell me they used bubblewrap...I just don't know what I'll do.... Popcorns....did you has? e39dream 10-15-2007, 06:58 PM it should have a woman in a swim suit pop out of the box when you split the tape. Gumbi4u 10-15-2007, 06:59 PM you got it from bekkers right? Yep. I find the lack of pics disturbing...... :shifty No worries, I will post pics accordingly! :) I'll send reinforcements but I need to know what happened with the popcorns. And if you tell me they used bubblewrap...I just don't know what I'll do.... Popcorns....did you has? Nope no popcorn :( But shit loads of bubble wrap. I didnt find the packaging the best at all. But it all got here without a scratch. I did screw up a bit though. There was a thin long piece of styrofoam. I thought it was packaging but it turned out to be a $23 insert that goes in the rear bumper as reinforcement. I snapped it in half and threw it away but then I realized I was missing a piece so I went right back into the garbage and it was there. It even has a BMW part number!! A piece of styrofoam with a part number. I think its still useable . I also heard from Jonmcc that you can use the one thats already on the car. brandon5069 10-15-2007, 07:03 PM it should have a woman in a swim suit pop out of the box when you split the tape. Ours did that because we got them from eurospec. Bekkers is all business. No scantily clad womens popping out of boxes. 23 dollar styrofoam :rofl Gumbi4u 10-15-2007, 07:06 PM Ours did that because we got them from eurospec. Bekkers is all business. No scantily clad womens popping out of boxes. 23 dollar styrofoam :rofl Im serious, I will take a picture of the part number. It is pretty tough stryofoam though. If you squeeze regular styro, it will crumble, this one seems to be pressure treated. e39dream 10-15-2007, 07:11 PM I know what you mean gumbi and Jon is right- theres one on the car already you can use, we all have it. It goes on top of the rear bumper tube to space the bumper to the car right. kinda cheesey but it's needed. racerx0911 10-15-2007, 07:42 PM i should have mine done by next week as well! titanium silver here as well... gumbi are you getting your moldings painted or leaving them black? cuz your side moldings are body colored... my car is older but im getting the sides paited as well... Gumbi4u 10-15-2007, 10:14 PM i should have mine done by next week as well! titanium silver here as well... gumbi are you getting your moldings painted or leaving them black? cuz your side moldings are body colored... my car is older but im getting the sides paited as well... Actually Im going to go for black molding all around. I wanted an m-tech kit so I got it. But for the most impact, I want to go with black molding. It just sets it off "proper" The molding is going to cost me another 100 + bucks. In the end , I can always change back to color which I probably wont. the only issue now is that PDC sensors which are silver. I need to paint 6 out of 8 of them BLACK. First Im going to pop them on as is. JONMCC game me a superb idea on what to do with them. But that will be Plan B. Right now im scavenging my basement for an old digital cam. I need to take pics of all this stuff. brandon5069 10-16-2007, 01:22 AM I need to take pics of all this stuff. You're damn skippy! :D Gumbi4u 10-16-2007, 11:39 AM You're damn skippy! :D BTW I called up a certified BMW collision shop to see how much paint and install was................... :::Ring Ring::: BMW :"Hello" Gumbi: "Hey buddy, calling to get a quote on an m-tech kit install for an 03 e39" BMW: "Sure hold on for a sec" {pause} ..... ...."Yeah its 1500.00, we are backed up though, leave the car here when you can and give us a week" {Click} Gumbi: {Gasps for breath, pushes life alert button on necklace pendant} brandon5069 10-16-2007, 11:44 AM :rofl Is that JUST installation??? A week??? BMW is so full of it. e39dream 10-16-2007, 11:49 AM dude- take the car down and get the parts sprayed already. Find some place that charges like 300 a panel for paint and ask what they charge for install. I bet you can get it done perfectly for an even grand. Gumbi4u 10-16-2007, 11:58 AM dude- take the car down and get the parts sprayed already. Find some place that charges like 300 a panel for paint and ask what they charge for install. I bet you can get it done perfectly for an even grand. Oh I already have the place thats going to do it and have them scheduled to be done tommorow (Wed). I just wanted to see what BMW had to say? The price is for paint and install. My Paint guy who I have used in the past always gives me a fair price. But as far as installing, I'd rather do it myself with some friends here or have BMW do it. And it will be more fun IMO to do it myself. Everyone here has seemed to do it themselves with no issues. I don't see why I cant either. I might as well mount the siren speaker while I'm in the bumper area as well :evil2 brandon5069 10-16-2007, 01:33 PM Did you say siren speaker? Yes! I do believe you did. Gumbi, you're the coolest guy I know.... And that's soley because your car has sirens and flashing lights :buttrock I demand video of you pulling people over! Do the Mtech install yourself. It's not too hard, and it helps you understand your car just a little better. All those little rivets..... Gumbi4u 10-16-2007, 02:00 PM Did you say siren speaker? :love:wiggle:beer Thanks man. I couldn't find a blushing smiley so the ones above are the next best thing. You rock too man!!!! You got the m-tech bumper on before I did. That sir was "well played". I might do something retarded. Like take a my cam (which I finally get back today) and put it into video mode and have some of the guys help out with a "pull over" video. Atleast it will give you an idea of what the car looks like with lights blazing. I might just give you a little taste today. The cam should be here soon. I will wait for sun down and turn on the lights and film it. I might also stick a couple in the front grill cause I'm "gangsta :rolleyes" like that. I will be honest with you though. Body work and rivets, terrify me. Thats why I will have alot of other hands doing the work for me. I will assist with camera shots. Now I'm just waiting for fedex to show up with the cam. Got a fresh battery and 4 gig memory card ready for deployment! e39dream 10-16-2007, 02:04 PM don't fear the rivets. :) Gumbi4u 10-16-2007, 03:39 PM Well the Camera just came in and put it to the test. Finally the m-tech kit I have been craving for so long has finally arrived and in PERFECT condition. No ebay or after market crap here. This is ALL OEM and non of that "see through" fiber glass crap. The bumpers are going to the paint shop tomorrow. Here goes! Notice the part numbers and the way the plastic has been molded. Nothing special to my eyes though. hopefully you guys can see something cool. the white stuff around the edges seems to be some sort of powder. Comes off easily. BTW this kit is Washers with PDC front and back. First pics are the rear bumper upside down. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060165.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060167.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060168.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060169.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060170.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060171.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060172.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060173.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060175.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060176.jpg These seem to be the air ducts that go from the front grill to the brakes. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060177.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060179.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060180.jpg Rear diffuser http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa191/gumbi4u/P1060181.jpg Some Gaskets. Yeah, I wouldnt miss this party for nothin!!! :redspot Next for what?!?!?!?!? :paranoid: blackforge 10-17-2007, 04:49 AM Can't wait to see how yours turns out... I just purchased a Euro-spec front end and I had a question for you about your OEM one...is it a hard ABS plastic or is it "rubbery" like the current one I have on my car (I don't really know what the real M5 has)? Did you get a US plate mount base as part of the deal as well? I only saw the Euro one in your pics...the reason I ask is because I would be interested in purchasing it from you, that is, if you are not going to use it. I know it's going to look stupid as hell with a plate in the front, but then again...I don't feel like dealing with fix it tickets over here in Cali. :( I did look into that front plate mount that goes where the tow hook usually goes, but I'm not 100% on that one either...lesser of two evils I guess... Actually Im going to be using the Euro plate mount. I have ANOTHER euro plate AND painted US plate mount for the 01-03 bumpers. Let me know if your interested. They Snap right on! sunnywala 10-17-2007, 12:14 PM hurry up and install everything already, i'm waiting on pics The Fifth Element 10-17-2007, 05:51 PM I have the same kit, I looked in my box that everything came with and found the styrofoam piece laying at the bottom, I assumed it was just part of packaging too. :shifty What I'm curious about, is that I assume that we also need the m5 bottom engine cover, and the two panels that attach to the front fenderwells, correct? I was looking up those parts, and they're close to $100 each, so that's another $300. Is everyone else just not installing these or what? My car is set to go in monday morning, to a bodyshop that the BMW dealer exclusively uses. Do you think they can wire up the M5 foglights as well? I'm beginning to think I should just have them paint the bumpers, and install them myself. Just from talking with them it seems like they're 'by the book' and I get this feeling that if I hand them a retrofit kit, they'll get lost with all the new ducting and stuff. Am I overthinking this? 98bimmer 10-17-2007, 05:56 PM are you getting shadowline trim? Actually I ordered everything else I needed to complete the install. This includes the side door BLACK strips and the Engine covers. All 3 of them. Also bought the M5 grill since Im not going to use the one that came with the kit. Here is a list. Note this is WITHOUT shipping which should be another 20-30 bucks.
