moving overseas, so i need to let a few things go.

one of which is my 5sp 1999 E46 323i w 131k miles.

the good:

engine was replaced due to a money shift. i have receipts for work performed at freedman's automotive in north jersey.

engine is from a 2000 325i, and has about 73k on it.

car is CLEAN, has no dents or dings, VERY minor scuffs, and interior is near flawless. seats show no wear, including driver's bolsters.

underhood area looks new and factory correct.

tires are good, with excellent tread. rims have been curbed, but are straight.

stereo is factory business CD

2 window regulators have been replaced. driver's front, and passenger's rear.

windows have a nice tinting job.

this car looks very close to new when cleaned and waxed. people who see it and ride in it have a hard time believing that it is 8 years old.

the bad:

brakes feel like they could use new rotors soon.


sunroof needs attention. the sliding panel has come off of the track, which i think means it needs new plastic clips. i have purchased the clips, and they are included with the car.

the E-brake handle is dissasembled. i loaned the car to my assistant, and she brought it back to me with a broken e-brake handle... i have no idea how she did it, but it looks like she pulled the button out and the rod came with it.

not sure of the amount of owners.. i got it from a close friend, and i know he wasnt the original owner. i'll carfax it tomorrow when i look at the VIN.

trans feels great. it has the typical E46 "clunk" when shifting into first from a stop, but my brand new 2001 330ci, and my 2004 325ix had the same thing, and the dealer told me it was nothing to worry about.

will do. i accidentally put my wife's luggage in the storage space, with our camera charger still in the pocket of a suitcase from the trip to disney. gotta go get the charger (HOPEFULLY tomorrow) and i should have them online shortly thereafter.
bumpers look pretty good. rear is surprisingly clean. the front has normal chips. car has never had paintwork, and it looks exceptionally clean.

interior is pretty much flawless, with the exception of where someone tried to break in to steal the DVD player. (thats coming out.. car comes with the "business cd"
they damaged the interior panel on the pass side where the seatbelt comes out. i have the replacement part already, however.

they also did some damage to the top of the pass side door panel, but nothing too bad. the rest of the interior looks damn close to mint. no wear.

engine bay is really clean. (P.O. installed a "cold air intake" which looks neat, and sounds good, but i prefer the stock airbox, which he's promised to give me. i just need to hassle him some more about it.)

like i said, i'll get good pics ASAP.

anyone local is welcome to come check it out and drive it, whenever.

i dont have ANY, with the exception of the engine swap and clutch replacement, but when i ran the carfax, several service records popped up, noting oil changes, etc done at the dealership.

any BMW dealer will be able to tell you whats been done and when.

AND, please do not expect a 20K dollar car for 6500 bucks. this car is worth around 8 grand or so, maybe 9 to the right buyer. i'm selling it for 6.5K, bottom line. FIRM, so no tire kickers, hagglers, etc. i'd sooner lose my ass on it at carmax than let some "enthusiast" tell me it's worth 5 grand. i've owned 12 different 3-series cars over the last 12 years, from E30s to E46 M3s. i know them inside and out. i've been a member here for several years, and have sold 3 cars via this site, with NO issues whatsoever.

it is not perfect.
it needs front brakes.
the sunroof needs attention (have parts)
the E-brake handle needs to be put back together. (i have no idea how the hell my assistant screwed it up, but she did.)

thats about it. i cant promise thats everything, but nothing else has given me an issue.

if the car were perfect, i'd ask for 9k. perhaps more.

it's really F'ing clean.


buy a cheap E46 and be stoked.

Especially since this car is for my girlfriend. I'll have her think about it and maybe we'll be in touch. We're only a couple hours away (north of philly) As long as you're not hiding something weird (which it doesn't sound like) then it won't be a waste of a trip.

nah, i have no desire to piss anyone off. ive been a member here for a long time, and i intend to remain a member in good standing. i'm still, and always will be a BMW enthusiast. my other bimmer is an S52 swapped E30, and i'm constantly tinkering with it. several people on this board know me in "real life" , and know what kind of person i am.
