Hello, I'm a newbie with on this site a need help with turn signal issue with my 94 740i. My turn signal works fine when my headlights lights are off but when you turn them on, my passenger side signal is flickering by itself without the turn signal lever being used. I checked all the sockets and bulbs and don't see any issues, no indication of any water leaks on the corner taillight housing, don't see any wire issues too.

The hazard works fine again when the lights are off. The issue is only when my headlights / parking lights are on.

Could this be a relay issue? Where is located?

Thanks

The turning signal relay can be in two places:
-next to the check control module in the front fuse box (later models).
-under the plastic cover of the steeringcolum (very early models).

wiring diagrams, fuse box details, relais etc. by built year is here

Do a search and/or ask here, where the E32 owners are

Just a shot in the dark: remove the brown relay, which is marked as crash control module. That has the function to switch on the interior lights, hazard lights and switch off the fuel pump(s) in case of a crash.
Usual symptom is that the flasher lights start on their own when this relay is defective. But also other crazy things happen.....

#1 & #4 - First, is this the FRONT passenger side turn signal or the REAR or both?

The bulbs in the front turn signals (in the USA) have a dual filament...a higher wattage filament for the turn signals...and a lower wattage filament for the parking lamps. Every scenario that you give for the turn indicators reveals that nothing is wrong with the higher wattage filaments. BUT...when you turn the headlamps on , the lower wattage filament begins to flicker. You may want to recheck or at least switch the FRONT left/right parking lamp bulbs to see if the problem moves to the other side...or check the filament REALLY close to see if it has failed and may be moving around making partial contact.

When the headlights are on, the rear turn signal is lit solid and the green arrow in the dash too.

I will check the front parking/turn signal bulb again, I have the clear corner with "stealth" light bulbs from BVAUTO.

Will post results.

Thanks in advance

Qsilver7: Thanks for the tip, it was my turn signal bulb in the front. It was hard to tell since I have the "stealth" bulb.
