fitting cd playier, i bourt an adapter to fit standard cd player to my e21, it just says 3 series pre 92 so i hope its right, well anyway do i have to remove whole centre console and gear knob (manual) to access it? ps it has radio already just doesnt have fm or cd or tape

no you dont need to remove the gear knob because the leather cover for the gear knob is actually a seperate piece to the the center console.

i think when i installed my cd player i had to cut a bigger slot for the cd player, not sure, but someone else may know

i messured radio seems same as replacement, it is a uk spec one tho so may be differnt original equipment radio. mine has a philips one with two large knobs and mecanical presets at the bottom.

That adapter you bought is going to be for an e30 so probably no use to you.
