The LED tail lights are more expensive than the crystal ones, but what are some of the advantages they have to justify this extra increase on the price tag?

If you had to pick between the two, which would you pick?

(Looking specifically at E38 tail lights, however everyone's input is appreciated!)

I was almost 100% sure this was going to be on an e36 which in that case would be neither. But an e38... maybe post some pics of your options.

EDIT: LEDs are brighter, light up faster (could help prevent getting rear ended), and have a longer life than traditional lights

I have LED's on my E36, and am very happy with them. They light up noticeably faster than my filament based third brakelight, are much brighter than the stock filaments, and look better than the crystals in my opinion.

I've driven behind my own car a few times, and they really are a world of difference compared to the OEM filament lights.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of people upgrade their older style tail lights on the e38 to the 2001 models, I'm basically trying to figure out what kind to go with...I see on ebay they have those two styles to match oem, does anyone know what kind of lights they are putting stock on the newest bimmers coming out?

Im not all that crazy about LED tails on older cars.They do look better on more up to date years.They are just not for me but I can understand why people are attracted to them.

If I have to go the crystal-clear route, I choose LEDs, but only the one sold by habbie.

I put the OEM crystal clears on my e38 and loved them. I think LEDs would look too ricey on a 7.

On the E36 I think that the LEDs are too much, I voted Crystal.
