STATE YOUR LOCATION IN THE TITLE !!!!

CreepinDeth
10-26-2007, 12:05 AM
1st 4 places in every title should be standard: [CA] or [TX] etc.

Idealy it should be: State, year, model, ext/int (color), detail.

ex:

[CA] 1977, 280z, white/brown, Manual-89xxx miles extensive records back to 77

It's teh perfect way to sell your car, everything is right up front and not hidden. Nothing should ever be hidden when your selling your car unless you need to hide it to sell it, and in that case, you shouldn't be selling to members of this board anyway.

And it should be a requirement here too, this isn't some shoddy forum.

Simply delete the threads that dont follow the format.

Can anyone improve on my format idea?

Amen brother, unfortunately some people are retards posting their car for sale and don't even put the bloody mileage.

Retards !! Agree!

Its human nature to forget, and not to realize what sellers are looking for. Simply asking posters to do so is never going to work. Such rules can only be enforced by making entry forms for sellers, giving them these options to fill, and then displaying these options on the thread. Then the minimum information is always available. How do you think eBay displays all this information - it requires sellers to provide this information each time they are posting. Then the same options can be looked up using search forms.

This is the way most websites enforce their rules.

Including the state works for manual searching (search for e36 then look in the title), but if I try to search using just the state initials to see all cars in my state, the search engine kicks it out as "too small".

Let's have a form to fill out on the For Sale/Wanted forum.... and allow searches by state initials.

I don't think it's that big a deal. Sounds like an excuse for people to be lazy. If you are seriously looking for a good, clean used BMW, does it really matter how close it is if it ends up being exactly what you're looking for? If you only look at cars that are close to you, you may end up missing out on "the one". IMO

BTW, I live in Colorado and bought my car from a guy in Virginia............ and got exactly what I was looking for.

???? some questions for you, without trying to offend anyone :

1. what is your line of work ?
2. what does the word efficiency mean to you ?
3. is your BMW an automatic ?
4. How many BMWs have you owned, bought and sold in the last 12 months ?

I do not care where the car is, if it is the right one I agree with you and will drive across the country, however it would be nice to have some standard of seeing in one sweep which car is where and so forth....

maybe i read too many books on lean manufacturing or workplace management and japanese crap from men like taichi ono.

but believe me, i am NOT lazy when it comes to finding the right car, I just wanted my search to be more efficient and reach my goals faster in less time. Is it not this anal retentivess, this quest for superior german engineering, for cars that are efficiently made for one reason.... Freude am Fahren..... why we come here ???

Maybe it is just me, then apologize my outreach to fellow BMW enthusiasts, I am looking for "the one" just like everybody else, however I would just prefer to find "the one" that is as close as possible.....

I can understand posting the state in the title if there were hundreds of cars posted everyday. But there is really only a few added each day, and sometimes none at all. And when you consider the model that you are looking for, that narrows it even further. So if you aren't willing to skim through a few FS threads with the simple click of a mouse, then yes, I will definately say that you are lazy.

P.S. By looking at what is available in other places, it may keep you from settling on something just because it is around the corner. THE END

why not :confused ? would posting an extra 2 letters in your title really be that big of a strain on your fingers? do you really need those 2 extra spaces for your title ad?

And for all of those who don't care, great, you can ignore those 2 letters and it won't effect your search 1 bit.

The few other car forums that have this, (i've seen on nicoclub and somewhere else) it makes it a lot easier to navigate through. I duno if they have it setup the state letters are a drop down menu select, but it makes it a lot easier sifting through cars.

I really don't care about a gem 3000 miles away on the west coast.

THE BEGINNING (of my opinion)
I'd rather shop for cars I can go and inspect without taking time off of work or buying plane tickets to go see a car I might not buy. Not all of us are shopping for LTW-under-20000mi-cars. Most of the cars on here are sub 15k plain ol cars. Not exactly worth flying across the country for, actually, they aren't even worth spending five minutes reading an ad for when it isn't a car you are going to buy.

Not all BMW's are l337, some of us are just looking for our next car, not "the one".

Also, I don't know about your browser, but every day, I have at least a page of "Today"'s and "Yesterday"'s that I'd rather not sift through again and again.

And what if, I know this might blow your mind, but what if I only want to check every week or every other week? Then I do have hundreds of posts to look through.

THE END (of my opinion) do I get a cookie?

I changed my mind, I think it's a fantastic idea, that way southerners can avoid rusted cars from up north.
If I find a great car 2,000 miles away, I'm not going to settle for an average car 100 miles away.
