Your engine is going to blow up in a few. Be careful :buttrock

How did you remember what grade u used half way through a tank of 87?
Now you have thrown your fuel trim and timing out of wack until u go through 2 tanks of the good stuff!

You should be fine. The ECM will detect knoking and retard the timing to compensate. Light pinging at patial throttle is common in many cars, but not dangerous. Heavy pinging at 3/4 to WOT is very bad and can wreck things; I cracked a piston right under the first compression ring, had almost no compression in the cylinder and that was due to some heavy detonation and a heavy foot. BTW, it was a Toyota with Ertle pistons.

I don't understand why you think this is an issue...it clearly states in the owners manual that 87 AKI (at a minimum) can be used.
BMW recommends a higher octatne fuel...but at a minimum, 87 AKI can be used (with decreased performance and usually poorer gas mileage). The engine will automatically adjust timing to compensate for any engine knock.
