I just bought some euro ellipsoids off of a 325 Touring in the Fatherland, and need a kit to get some HID running on these bad boys. I think I am only going for the low-beams to start, thinking somewhere between 5300 and 6000k.

What are some cost-effective or somehow worthy kits out there? I don't want to do this twice...

These guys can't type english too well, but they do have a very inexpensive kit.... any experience here? Maybe too cheap. vvme . com/product/detail-20023.html

UltraBrightLights has kits for much more than double the price, with "McCulloch" components. Anyone here? ultrabrightlights . com/c-3913-5300k-hid-kits.aspx

I'm open to ideas. I mainly want something that is legit and proven. Can't spend more than 350 or so...

Thanks..

get a prolumen digital kit, better then most if not all, a lifetime warranty and we can spell, well most of the time anyway...
you can go for the new 50w digital kit, 35% more output and still within your budget.
let me know if you need help.

Thanks. I must have scanned over your site not seeing anything for e30, but of course its all mostly compatible.

Questions concerning these offered kits on the site....
Prolumen Slim Digital Kit $225
Prolumen 55w HID Kit $205
Prolumen 50w Digital Kit $275

Seems I would want the 55w, but do I? Any drawbacks, especially on an older car with higher w's? For any of these, do I need (or want) a relay/fuse?

Also, concerning the fog-light adapter harness. I assume that one of these kits will work for only one set of lights, and if I wanted HID fogs, I would need another kit.
Is there any way to have low beams and fogs(or highs) with just one kit?

Thanks again, and I boy do I look forward to my new h.i.d.s!!!

For the older wiring. I'd just stick with the 35w kit. You'll still be plenty happy. :)

no draw back with the 35w, 55w or 50w they all draw less currant then your halogens, its a matter of choice, it comes down to do you want max output or the digital kit, obviously the 50w digital kit is the best of both worlds.

each kit powers one set, so yes you would need an additional set for the fogs, but you can skimp on the fogs and go with a budget kit.

1. Why is this? Just trying to see about any empirical reasons why.... I'm basing any of my own skepticism on total myth and suspicion, not anything concrete. I think I want the Digital 50w. Is there any REAL concern on an e30?

2. Lets talk about 5k versus 6k. I think I want 5k, as it has the most light. I also dont want too yellowy of light, and be pissed i dont have that xenon look I always wanted.
However, every picture on the net seems to distort or fail to show the real output of these lights. I want a tiny hue of violet, but I don't want to be pulled over or be blatantly ricer looking.

I guess its up to me in the end, but I want to see some discussion on 5k versus 6k as far as personal driving opinion and experience, not lumens...

I'm pretty set on getting some Prolumens now, if not for positive testimony, for the optional lifetime warranty and promising service.

Thanks for any input on questions 1 or 2!

1. not at all, you would be retaining your stock fuse, if anything is out of wack you'll know it right away, many older BMW's have them and they are fine.

2. right, agreed, i would go with the 6k, at 50w they are brighter the oe application @ 4300k and give you a nice color, not overly blue just a touch.
i was always into the 5k or less after "accidently" putting in a 6k 2 years ago i would never switch back.

Ahhh! Just when I had just about made up my mind for 5k based on the canyon carving habit..... But seeing these e36 guys with such attractive light coupled with your "never go back" mentality....
I guess the debate continues. I didn't think about the 50w influence.

Thanks for the help once again.

Anyone else with 5/6k driving impressions?

get the 5k.......for sure
who cares about color, and hey you might get some color from your projectors (the cutoff color) which will display a nice little blue/purple flicker when you are coming from far away
