Well I got my 2001 Cabrio with no options other than heated seats. It has leatherette, a crappy stereo, manual top. Now, the pendulum swings the other way I guess.

What did you get charged for the wind deflector? I would drive the car for a couple days to see if you really need it. I almost got one but found it didn't change much for me and I saved $575+.

Mid $400's allegedly "on sale" but I don't recall exactly. You tried with and without? I'm sure I can get out of it if I wanted to.

I got it because in my past convertibles I really push the envelope on the temps at which I'm willing to drive with the top down and I figured this would help. I have no idea how it attaches, if it can be stored in the trunk if you pickup a 3rd occupant, etc.

I've only tried it when warm, but only because it hadn't got cold yet. I didn't think the wind buffeting was that bad that it was even needed. If they have one in stock when you pick up the car, ask if you can try it before you buy it first.

did you try it with the windows up?

I don't remember for sure. Part of me doesn't think so.

Why would you do that? IMO that is one of the most ridiculously stupid looking things I see on the road. A convertible with the top down and the windows up. Why bother?? And yes, I've owned convertibles in the past.

But on the original topic, congrats on the order and try not to go too nuts waiting on the car and subsequently waiting for weather suitable to drop the top! (I'm thinking even being bold, December-February in NJ isn't conducive).

I could care less how ridiculous I might look to some. I like to drop the top whenever I can. It's about the way I feel not the way I look. I've had convertibles since '01.

I AM going nuts waiting for the car. My only outlet is trolling these forums.

Quick story: On an overnight stay in Portsmouth, NH in the dead of winter I was amazed at how many convertibles and roadsters have the top down in town on a cold sunny winter day. I bet I get a few top down days b/t December and February but it's true April will be amazing...

I had my top down last Sunday. It was a little cold so I just cranked up the heat a little. We listen to the radio and have a nice conversation without the wind deflector. The noise is minimal.

I was in Nantucket for a wedding that same weekend. Nice sun out but cold, still, plenty of little roadsters with the top down buzzing through the downtown. You Northeasterners do it right.
