View Full Version : Someone slashed the tires on my wifes 740iL

Along with 2-4 tires (one side or both depending on convenience) on every single car/truck parked outside in our entire neighborhood. Cops banged down my door at 1:30am to show me the damage and file a report. From my driveway I could see 3 cars belonging to my neighbors alone up and down the street also slashed.

Kids likely slashed at least 30-40 tires in my neighborhood tonight based on what the officer said he has seen just driving around thus far and he still had several streets to check so there is likely more to be found/reported.

Why can't kids find something better to do then fucking vandalize other peoples property? Damn tires on that boat are $181 each plus mount and balance and I doubt our insurance will cover it since we just have basic liability on it.

There is no Discount Tire in Mabank. Police said they are looking for a group of skateboard toting kids. The police busted them earlier in the night for doing their thing on private property and think this was their way or retaliating.

Don't give me another reason to hate on skaTERZ anymore than I currently do. You and all your neighbors should go to their little skate park or meeting spot and run over their skateboards.

Talked to the police this morning, apparently sometime after i went back to sleep last night they caught the one of the shitheads still at it and he ratted on his buddies.

We have one privately tire shop here, no national chains.

Sorry to hear that dude...I'm glad they caught the culprits. I hope that they pay for all the damages they did.

You can see my neighbors Lincoln Towncar in the background, also with 2 slashed tires. After talking to the police they have filed 11 separate reports, everyone with at least 2 slashed tires, some as many as 6 (multiple cars) They are still expecting several more reports as people go outside and notice. My neighbor around the corner just put 4 brand new mudbog kinda tires on his raised up F350 and is out over $1000 because of these punks.

Police said the DA will be pressing felony charges against the kids involved because the total of their damages are well in excess of $1500 required to bump criminal vandalism up to a felony.

I called all the wheel/tire dealers in the are and none stock the size I need in a passenger car tire, I guess its more common to mid sized pickups or something. I'm going to have to order 2 Michelin MXV4 235/60R16 out of my own pocket, and with luck get my wifes car back on the road by the end of the week. Then I likely get to peruse the matter in court for who knows how long to get my $$$ back.

You and your neighbors need to get together and file a lawsuit against their parents to pay for everything their kids did.

Oh, and when you see one of their dad's, punch him in the f*cking face for his kid having the nerve to touch a BMW with malicious intentions. :D

why? so then they can file a lawsuit on him and get a lot more money then they lost?

how old were the kids?

I don't know names and ages yet. That will be in the police report I pick up tomorrow hopefully.

From what I was told in a brief discussion with a officer filing the neighbors report this morning all of them were "adults" with the exception of one, being 17. All of them were plenty old enough to know better.

Your fence is filthy.

Its not dirty, just weathered :)

Picked up the police report this morning. They have the suspects information but they do not have him in custody yet. My insurance will not cover the damages, and simply put I do NOT have the money to replace the tires out of pocket right now as every last penny has gone into our house, it lists tomorrow.

powerwash it with some soap and then seal it with a deck sealer, especially if you are listing it.

Or find a fence crew that works for cash. My new 6' cedar fence ran me $2100 installed and stained.

about how many feet in length? the fence will be one of the first things noticed when going outside OR driving up to the property.

Every fence in the neighborhood looks exactly the same, most are worse (like falling over)

I don't give a damn about the fence. This isn't updown Dallas. This is shitsville. and if I don't have the cash to buy 2 new tires do you really think the fence is something I'm going to spend money on?

77' on the side with the gate and 8' in the other section. cool thing about it is that the neighbor has a matching fence. Care to guess where I found my fence guy? I want to do the other side and split it with my other neighbor but it's a rental house and the landlord just doesn't give a f...

Fast forward a week.

All said and done it cost me $345 out of my own pocket to get the 2 tires replaced, mounted and balanced and back on the car.

I went down to the Police Department to submit the receipt to add to my report, and while I was there happened to catch the captain in charge of the investigation of this incident. After talking to him it looks like pretty much everyone that got their tires slashed is going to be SOL.

He said that although his friend ratted him out its just hearsay, and the alleged tire slasher isn't admitting to doing it now (surprise surprise) Without a firsthand witness, or a confession they cannot get a warrant for the shitbags arrest. Furthermore the DA is unable to proceed with filing felony charges against the kid for the same reasons.

He also said even if they are presented with evidence to get a warrant to arrest him, and it goes to court... the judge will simply order him to pay restitution to the victims, and since he is 17yrs old surely won't have the cash to pay with. Victims could then take him/his parents to small claims and get another worthless judgment against him to pay restitution, which would also likely be ignored by the shitbag kid.

Cliffnotes: 15+ victims are out a collective $4000+ and the shitbag kid will likely walk away scott free.

so the kid that got caught with him, rats him out and the cops can't do anything?

what a bunch of losers.

you should spend a few minutes and get all of the people to sign a singal letter addressed to the police chief and complain that he's worthless.

call the local news and tell them what's going on.

No, the kid that told the cops who did it was a friend of the kid who did it. Both of them were hanging out at a house one street over with a bunch of friends (Party?) and the kid that slashed the tires was bragging to his friends about how freaking cool he was. Note he isn't bragging anymore.

They did not actually catch anyone in the act, and supposedly it was just this one kid who did it. Without a witness, confession, or some other evidence everyone loses.

so they won't even visit the kid and try to rattle him?
sound like idiots to me. i'm picturing Boss Hogg and Rosco P. Coltrane.

Why are you moving to H town?

Supposedly they already questioned the suspect, and he wouldn't confess to slashing the tires. Not much else they can do I guess. The cops here aren't bad, most of them seem able bodied and intelligent. There is just only so much they can do. The kid even has a prior arrest/conviction for similar behavior although they could not tell me what it was because he is a juvenile.

Ultimately we are moving because Kristin and I really cannot stand living here, the people suck. Her parents also live in Houston, and so do plenty of our friends.

While I'll admit I've thought about stooping to his level, it won't get me anywhere. It would be just my luck to get caught anyways and be out yet more money since I'm a responsible adult who earns my keep in society.

I don't know where he lives, what his parents names are, or anything like that. Being that he is a minor they will not give out this information.

I do know that his Texas Drivers License number is 24217375. If anyone has the ability to look up useful information from that by all means :)

Better yet, use a simple pump sprayer and apply bleach to the fence. That old crap will come right off leaving the wood looking almost as it did when it was built. Apply some Behr Natural Cedar #501 if you want to complete the job but even without stain, for the short term, will look much better. Just finished doing mine and it looks awesome. Good luck with the sale.
