I bought some "drop-in" LED replacement bulbs to use in my clear sidemarkers. These are 194A replacement LEDs - they are clear when off and glow amber.
The problem is that the LED bulbs are dimly lit at all times, even when the car is off. Anyone know why? It kind of ruins the point of having clear leads if they are always glowing amber.

This may sounnd stupid but have you tryed fliping the light so the + and - side would be different.Normal LEDs have to have the correct polarity to operate I dont know if that is true with pre made bulbs.Let us know what you find out

LED's only work one way, if they are working as they are, flipping the polarity around will make them not function at all.

The LEDs I bought off ebay.. go-fig.
They were multi-directionals.. and work great, but the glow dim all the time when installed.
The cheapo 194A 4-leds from AutoZone all facing one direction work fine, although fit is questionable... but they are horribly dim and you can only see them from about a 30-degree arc from the side. I'd probably get sued for having them if someone ever rear-ended me.
