ok so i have been looking at these headlights for as long as i have known about them. i really like the halo look of the newer bmws and i want to put that on my car. on ebay they have a set that is made for the e30s and my quesion is will they fit in my car? i have done some searching and it looks like the e30 lights will fit in the e21 but with some mods and so i know that part will fit but what about the electrical part of the lights. and also what would you guys think about them?(your opinion has no influence on whether or not i buy them :)) i am more wondering about the electrical part of them.

any thoughts, opinions or know-how would be a great help

*cough* cheap garbage *cough*

and $42 shipping!?!?!?!?

Physically they may never fit right. All lights need + and - so that couldn't be simpler. You'll just have to add some extra wires for the power to the rings. They DO make them for e21s, some are even high quality I think. Keep an eye out.

no offense but that shit is rice on our cars and all the e30's with it look like shit. It's not made to look good on the separate twin lights

Well I beg to differ, those lights look sweet and will give the car more personality. But I do understand there will always be a difference of opinion. Some like them like they are others see room for improvement.

I say scrap the Ebay lenses, and get some quality Hella conversion lights to replace your sealed beams. They don't look too much different, but make an amazing difference at night.

Low Beams:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hella-5-3-4-Round-H4-Headlamp-SET-H5006-Headlight-EURO_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ014QQite mZ330131645203QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=2518995&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2FHella-5-3-4-Round-H4-Headlamp-SET-H5006-Headlight-EURO_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ014QQite mZ330131645203QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V)

Buy some Sylvania Silverstars or PIAA's to replace the bulbs that come with them, and you are in business. Cheaper than the EBAY halos, and a whole lot brighter.

peperry, the idea isn't for the light, brightness or otherwise per-say, but more for the looks, at least for me anyway. Those lights (link) look standard.

I guess you could consider them standard, but they certainly are a HUGE improvement over sealed beams. I know the OP was going more for appearance rather than performance.
I just figured I'd throw the suggestion out there, because this is by far one of the best improvements I have made to my car

As for as the halo look goes, I have seen 5 3/4" universal lenses pop up on Ebay that should work with the existing E21 buckets.

I'd go for the brighter light on my GT, hagolen or xenon. The halo is the look for the beemer.

no they haven't and that is for a reason, they're rice and ugly. I don't see how angel eyes are historical value since they came out over 20 years after our cars were made. You asked for an opinion and I'm not trying to hate or be a dick but just giving my personal and honest opinion. I've seen them on e30's which are the closest thing to our headlights and they looked extremely out of place and like ricy shit ebay lights that you see for the e36. It's your car and it's good to be different but I just think it's the bad kind of different with these. A set of smileys would look sick and you don't see them too much, that's the route I'd go.

Hella E-codes low and high with some quality bulbs are all you will need. Thats my opinion.

smileys were my next option for i can get them cheap off a friend who has an e30. i may just go with those, cuz after more thought and many responces most of you are right they would just look out of place and i would rather my car looks clean not pimpy

I feel you, sorry if I came off as a dick but the ebay ones just look like ass. I've seen some custom ones that really didn't look too bad and that I wouldn't mind on my car, but it's just doing it right. If you're doing it yourself it is a lot of work from what I've seen. uberpanzer actually knows about it if I remember correctly. Smileys also look really good and would be my first choice also. If you can get them for cheap do it

These ones are for a E30, I think. They started the E30s in '83 in europe. If you select '82 from the drop-down, it doesn't show any headlights.

I bought ebay projector headlights with angel eyes for my previous E36 and they were actually dimmer than the stock E36 lights... They looked sort of cool, but sort of ricey too. The angel eyes were not visible unless you were very close to the car. Now I have Depo projector headlights (ZKW clones) on my E36 and they are great! (but i'm using HIDs too... and the light output is like 10 times better than stock). Bought everything from ebay. I guess you just gotta be careful about what you buy there. Those no-brand lights are usually crap. But I guess they may be a slight improvement over stock E21 lights, which are even crappier in terms of light output. If you can make them fit. If you can fit E30 lights though, there are much better choices (for example, the stock smileys).

Oh, and the electric part is not going to be a problem. Even if the connectors don't fit, you can also cut and splice the wires. It's not complicated - you just need a plus and a minus wire for each light.
