View Full Version : Powering headlights at home?

How is this done? I've seen people with their headlights sitting on their couches and turned on. Is it fairly involved? My adjusters are broken, so I need to manually adjust them and I would rather not be doing it with the headlights still on the car.

If I think about it, the low-beams run on 35W with a 7.5amp fuse. So that means I need a 4.5-5V power source? I'm no electrician by any means.

Also, I remember 2 connectors for the low beams. One blue wire, one red. I don't imagine one of these is the ground, so what are each of these?

I could always take a multimeter to my car, but my car is at the bodyshop this week and I'm thinking of taking my lights home to work on them. :)

12volt source. get a small power supply. plugs into the wall and then gives you the ability of having a 12volt source. connect some wire and your good to go.

Hmm...Have to butcher something with a 12v regulator on it then?

Just take a power supply out of an old computer. You connet the green and black wires on the atx bundel so it will turn on. Yellow and black on the molex connectors gives you a very clean 12 volts.

I didn't think of that. Great idea! I've got so many PSUs just lying around.
