Johnny 5 10-12-2007, 02:59 PM 137,000 miles
SLH - haha. You were first E36 M3 I had actually ran into the whole time I have had the car. I was like, "Shucks. He doesnt want to go." But you were going. I'm gonna miss the horsepower.
It is priced to GO. I have talked to every dealer in town and they all tell me no one wants a 6 speed and low balled me. I figured an enthusiast would want it. Here's your chance to get in cheap. I have got to make it happen. I have 1 $8000 offer that is still open and local.
s52e368 10-13-2007, 09:37 PM john i talked to my bro in law ill call you tomorrow to setup time to see it ?
MyNameIsDjyche 10-14-2007, 06:43 PM hello im extremely interested in your car if I could get some more pics of it and all of the service records. I could come pick up the car next week, I just need to talk to you first and get more info on the car. my number is 615-957-8711 Joe
clevertd 10-19-2007, 10:50 PM My brother is looking for something different, I'll forward this to him and my dad. I'd love to have it as well:help
Johnny 5 10-20-2007, 11:47 AM Move-in day is closing in fast. $8400 and you get a car that pulls 100mph with little effort and feels like your doing 80mph.
I rolled my boss in his 2005 350Z automatic on the highway. It may have been prearranged;) This car definately defies its weight at speed. Nothing else for the money does the job.

C'mon, my 535i/5 took one 50 to 110:stickoutt. This car can do way more than that for sure. I'm trying to push my brother towards this car, Dad is down at Fort Fisher, he's been on the look out for a good deal. Good luck with the sale otherwise, it has definitely made me wonder if I'd take this over my E34.
xpxhxoxexnxixx 10-23-2007, 01:10 PM very interested..sent pm and email :)

Bimmer540 10-27-2007, 03:58 PM If this beauty is still available in a week or week and a half you probably will have a buyer pending my car sales (which I expect)
Very interested in it, possible to look at it sometime Tuesday?
Johnny 5 10-29-2007, 06:04 PM I've got a guy that is for sure from out of town a local who wants to look. As well I have the guys that are thinking about it. Someone is going to get a killer deal on an E39 540i 6 speed. PM me for my phone number if you have the money available and can do something in the next couple of days, otherwise I will be forced to sell it cheap to my out of town buyer.
lachssilberbim 11-02-2007, 05:46 PM If youll take 8.1k send me a PM!
lachssilberbim 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM sent you a PM.
Johnny 5 11-10-2007, 12:34 PM Well I have been through talks with over a dozen people now. Most of them asked me about 15 questions and then they never wrote or called back. So here are the topics I was most asked about layed out for anyone to see.
VIN - WBADE5325WBV93751 The car was in a minor accident in 2004. It clipped the front quarter panel before the wheel arch and behind the front turn signal. You can not tell it was repaired and the work still has its lifetime warranty from Crown Automotive.
This is my 4th BMW and second 540i 6 speed.
I have records printed from 50,500 miles.
It was either serviced at Flow BMW, Crown BMW, or Motorsport Connections(indy BMW race shop). All parts are OEM or better in quality. In some cases the fixes are better than OEM. ex. I used anerobic sealer on the valve cover gaskets. They wont leak for ages.
Tires will need to be replaced by the end of winter.
I am the second owner and both were single and live in the piedmont triad of NC. The backseat and passenger seats are like new. The worst thing that gets on your vehicle in NC is red clay mud. There is no rust or corrosion or underbody coating damage. Title is clear, free of liens, and in-hand.
Important replacements: waterpump, radiator, control arms and bushings, backfire valve AKA CrankCase Vent Valve, intake gaskets throughout, valley pan gasket, MAF, CPS, cats, front swaybar links, steering has been checked with a stethescope by a professional at all points- no issues, 4 wheel alignment, oxygen sensors, all four headlight adjusters - the headlights work as advertised, "as good as the previous model ellipsoid lights." but these use free form reflector technology. Second clutch and it feels like new, windshield.
The wheels are BBS made for BMW. 2 piece. 17 x 8". The centers are cast aluminum and rims are forged aluminum.
I live in the base foothills of North Carolina. Our roads are great but hilly. I get 16mpg in the city. On the highway, which is pretty much flat when you have a V8, I get 26-28 with the cruise on. If you don't use the cruise and you shift a lot and stick it, you will get worse milage. Max mpg's are cruising in 6th gear above 50mph.
I run 89 or 93 octane. The 93 will give you the best throttle response and wide open hp. 89 works fine for all situations.
Black interior is very hard to find on Canyon Red cars. I feel like the color scheme is rare. You can find them, but selection is limited. Most have the classic tan or the non-flattering grey.
quickguy 11-12-2007, 03:43 PM I am working on selling my car and would be willing to fly to pick this up. I will update you if it sells.
Boosted535 11-12-2007, 06:28 PM Very interested, cash in hand, sent PM.
Johnny 5 11-14-2007, 07:05 PM Just when you thought you had seen every kind of buyer, a new one appears. This one had me drive 2 hours to kick my tires and pick over small issues.
This car is solid people. You may have to spend a few hundred dollars to make it perfect, but of course the car is priced right considering.
I'm still taking offers and I will show the car, but only locally.
mpwr ren rebel 11-15-2007, 05:53 PM This car is solid people. You may have to spend a few hundred dollars to make it perfect, but of course the car is priced right considering.
I'm clevertd's brother. I'm working on selling my 93 325i and have some interest in your car. I'll be heading back to Charlotte for Thanksgiving break next Tuesday late afternoon and would like to stop by and check it out. What needs to be done to it? You say a few hundred dollars to make it perfect. What isn't perfect?
Johnny 5 11-19-2007, 04:57 PM RR window regulator, RF strut bearing, I was told an O2 sensor, but there is no CES light and MPG's are normal. Tires before too long. Someone that drove it said they didnt like the shifter, but the shifter works fine its just the original. There are some pixels out. Nothing major needs replacing. You could pick it up as a DD and do the little thing over time. It has had every major system serviced. This is NOT a project car, but a solid car that needs those little, inexpensive things.
This is probably the best deal in the United States on an E39 540i 6 speed. It has no salvage title or corrosion and all the expensive 540i parts have been replaced.
ChrisProia 11-20-2007, 02:01 AM wow... pretty car..
Johnny 5 11-20-2007, 08:33 PM The pretty car just left for $7500. Man that was low.
moreno 11-21-2007, 12:39 AM sometimes you have to take a loss, to move on in life. car looked good though.
