View Full Version : S54 Engine Recall!!! mmmpowr 03-22-2003, 01:03 AM http://forums.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e46m3/forum.php?postid=962308&page=1 Sticky 03-22-2003, 08:08 AM Well it doesn't affect me, so I am not worried. It does not seem like a recall, but more of replacing failure prone parts. Kevlar 03-22-2003, 10:39 AM attached file... Pinecone 03-23-2003, 10:28 AM As somebody pointed out on Roadfly, the part number listed is in teh ETK as the current oil pump. No way are there going to be two different parts with the same part number. eurorides 03-23-2003, 04:01 PM im march 02 build date:) so i dont have to worry right ??????? fpa1974 03-23-2003, 08:29 PM M Coupes have different build dates that will be affected so do not be happy yet. Florian eurorides 03-23-2003, 09:23 PM damn my car is at the dealer this week for possibly a tranny replacement, (i will know tomorrow if they are replacing it, if they cant get the pins out, or if there is damage) now i might have to get a new engine...crap i hate being with out my m coupe...if you have an m car they should give you an ///m loaner, i wouldnt miss my coupe as much if i had an m3, even an e36 would be great (stick only please) going from my m coupe to anything not ///m is a step down....i always see hot girls i wanna hit on, or another quick car i wanna run with when im not driving my coupe :( jblack 03-26-2003, 03:28 PM Any more news on this? The note mentions that details would be out this week.... SDbboy 03-26-2003, 03:51 PM Will BMW contact me on this? Or do I have to bring it in on my own will? I'm 11/01 build so I'm affected by this. Brian Bring it in on your own. They usually don't call about this stuff, they just take care of people who are affected when they come in. When I came in with my car for them to fix the tire pressure light, there was a guy in a 99 e36 m3 and the service people informed him there were 2 recalls on the car since the last time he came in for service, and they would take care of it now. ///MDriver 03-26-2003, 07:37 PM I'm a 8/01 build, so I'm okay? ///MDriver 03-26-2003, 09:19 PM Are you mocking us? ;) jblack 04-01-2003, 06:16 PM I have my appointment for Monday, April 14th.... I'll let you know how it goes... BTW, I have a 2/02 build. (and a 100K warranty, if it does not go well). mmmpowr 04-01-2003, 10:47 PM Originally posted by jblack I have my appointment for Monday, April 14th.... I'll let you know how it goes... Will you be going to the northern ohio bmwcca driving school at mid-ohio in may? We met there last october. If you remember, I had the TS M3. You spoke to my friend that had the other IR M3 SMG. Hope all goes well with the recall. David jblack 04-01-2003, 11:50 PM I remember vividly (still love the rotor write up)! The wife and I will be there. You guys should come down for the Nelson Ledges School too! Crappy track, but fun and fast! I was thinking of passing on the service update, and wait for the engine to blow (or not) and get one done up new from the factory. But I figure if the dealer screws up, I have another 88 thousand miles for it to manifest itself. Plus my engine will have the correct serial number for the car this way. Anyway, check out the events coming up in the area, and drive down for a couple! www.nohiobmwcca.org John mmmpowr 04-02-2003, 01:17 AM I will be at Mid-Ohio, signed up for the May school. Keven (IR M3 SMG) will not be able to make it. His wife is delivering that week. Another friend will be going too. I've just upgraded to Brembo brakes, so you'll get a chance to see them. They should help alot at Mid-Ohio :) David jblack 04-02-2003, 10:31 PM What did you do with the euros? You couldn't possibly have worn them out already! I am switching to Ferrodo DS3000 on the fronts for the track this year (had stock pads last). I hear they stop as well as the Blue's, but no corrosive dust. I also x-pel'ed the the 318 this fall after seeing how nice yours was holding up....I'll do the M this fall if all goes well. See you soon! mmmpowr 04-03-2003, 12:26 AM Originally posted by jblack What did you do with the euros? You couldn't possibly have worn them out already! No, they're far from worn out. I'm selling them to a friend. I got in on this Brembo group buy that I couldn't pass up, so I got them. I'm getting ready to add some more protective film, you'll see it at mid-ohio. The existing film is holding up really well. David |
