What's the norm for 17 inch wheels in a lowered car? Any kind of rubbing?

235/45 front 255/40 rear. No rubbing.

Same as above

The fronts look a little tall but they're correct. I wonder what a 245/40 would be like (and 265/35 rears being staggared)

I run 235 up front 255 out back
would 265/35's fit on a 17x9 throwing star under the back?

235/45/17 all around. You can go wider in the back, but IMHO, the E34 already pushes quite a bit, fatter in tires in the rear will only make it worse.

235/45 up front, 265/40 in the rear with no rubbing, but my wheels are 8.5 and 9.5 respectively.

Guys, he asked about 8" wheels, not 8.5", 9.5", or 13.5". :stickoutt

I was running 225/45s and 255/40s in front and back, respectively, on 17x8" ASA AR-1s. Definitely not ideal width in back, but I think that's the only size those AR-1s came in.

I am running 235-45-17's on 17 x 8 Throwing Stars. I have played around with the air pressure on my Goodyear F1s and I like:

29 PSI Front
32 PSI Rear

I don't think I would like the additional push added by a larger rear tire and I quite like th handling of my car right now - pretty well balanced IMO. I am going to take her to a driving school in the Spring - I am anxious to see how she does.

235/45 front 255/40 rear. No rubbing.

That is what I had when I had Style 66's on my car. I think that is the safest setup you can run with without and fender rolling or rubbing the strut towers.

You can run 275/40 on a 9" wheel.

245/40 all around on 17x8 throwing stars and the car handles great (No pushing like when I had them staggered at 235 front 255 rear. Im looking at fitting 265 all around on 17x9 throwing stars next, just need to see what type of spacers Im going to have to work with.

245/45-17 on lowered cars? Lot's of potholes here, I need the rim protection without rubbing of any kind.
