View Full Version : Wobble Wobble
Cabby 03-21-2003, 03:36 PM Need some advice......... got some BBS LM's as you may or may not know, and initially had S03's on them. 19x8.5, 19x10 - 245/35/19, 275/30/19
Fit seems fine, but there was a terrible steering wheel shake over 50 mph. It gets worse with speed. Seemed like one of the wheels was out of balance, no problem.
Went back and got the tires swapped to Yokohama AVS Sports, same size (another story), and the fronts are out of balance. Everytime they balance it, drive, and come back, it's out of balance again. They recalibrated the machine and balanced them 3 times, everytime it's a little better, but still not right.
This is a great shop, so lets not go there, but they seem to think the hubcentric ring that came with the rims is not thick enough. When put the wheel on the car, you can move it up and down a little, hence the vibration at higher speeds.
Has anyone had this problem, and in particular with BBS LM's?
Thanx

Yea I had the same viberation that couldnt get taken out. It was the hubcentric spacers rings. They were the wrong ones. Two different ones came with my rims and the directions said the wrong one. If you have more than one check that. If not, I dont know what else to say.
Cabby 03-23-2003, 10:15 AM They got it so the problem is pretty much gone, but I know the rings are still not right, I am getting the correct ones this week. Am I damaging anything by driving in the meantime?

Not that I know of. The rim is bolted solidly to the hub, its just wobbling slightly becuase the hub centric spacer is wrong, but you just notice it more because it gets exaggerated the farther you go away from the center of the hub. So you notice a larger difference when driving, because you experience the wobble as the outside of the wheel does which is larger than the inside of the wheel. You should be fine, its just annoying to deal with.
