According to the M3 owner handbook, it's normal for it to eat some oil. Everyone should check the oil level every 500 miles and add oil as neccessary.
It shouldn't drink your oil, but it does take a sip here and there. I don't really experience it in my M3 though.

I found out quickly that I would be down about a quart or so at oil changes and no leaks...I check FREQUENTLY now;)

Depending on the oil in the engine..
I'll go though a quart every 1.5k or so..

I added a quart after 4.5k and have not added any since, and I drive it hard EVERY day. It is not that bad.

You should have that checked immediately. I asked my mechanic how much it would cost to fix and it was big $$$. :( Hopefully yours isn't so far gone as mine is.

Damn! All my cars' engines idle. None of them shit, so I guess I'm lucky there.
BTW, 1/2 Quart - I have 10K on the car, and been to about 15 track days....

I've also found that I go through more 0W30 than 5W30, but I guess you would expect that?:dunno

I have 28,000 Miles on my M3 and have had 3 oil changes.....I've barely lost any oil - 1/2 liter max.
