ok so im showin off my new E34 and they wanted to see my battery...
i pop the hood and i couldnt find the battery!
we searched for a while and saw what looked like something to put the jumper cables on, and a big red wire leading to it, but we couldnt find the stupid battery

Under your rear seat on the passenger side. Pull up on the front and then forward to get the seat off.

Yes, and don't be scared to give it quite a pull.

When I first got my 530i I had to go on a hunting expedition as well.

I wonder what the rhyme and reason is for the placement. My '82 320i has it in the engine. My '94 530i has it under the rear seat. And I remember looking at a 90's 325 a while back which had it in the trunk (standing in water because of a leak...not good...so I didn't buy it). :eek:

Weight distribution is the only reason behind it. That and the engine bay looks cleaner. With my E12, I plan on mounting the battery in the trunk mainly because the battery tray is in a spot where there is really no room for a battery.
