ive recently bught a 97 ti salvage and it dident had a key so i made a key at a regual locksmith and the car wont start, does this car has a chip key or anything that needs to be program by a dealer?

The key has a chip built into it.
Each key needs to match the EWS of the car.

If you are the registered owner you can take your registration and vehicle VIN number to your local dealer and they will order you a key. Should run you about $70.

I think the keys without the light are a little cheaper but they all take some time. It took about a week and a half for me to get a new coded lock for my glove box

My car only had one key when purchased. I took the registration w/VIN down to the dealership, a week and $68 later I had another key.

I just got a new one...$46 and two days for the one with the light in it.

Edit - For a 1994, not sure if that matters..
