I have a 90' 535i with 85,000 miles and a shimmy at 60mph. I read a lot on here about thrust arms. When I inspected the car from below the drivers side thrust arm is leaking black stuff, so I figure I should replace both those with the 750 bushings. When I get someone to turn the steering wheel back and forth I notice that it is really loose between the pitman arm and the drag link (centre tie rod). I have gone and retorqued all nuts, problem still persists.

My question, Do i need to replace the pitman, centre, or both?
And if I have the funds, with a car of this mileage, should I bother with the tie rods/ idler arm, ect. It also needs struts, its starting to add up. I'd rather only make one order as im shipping to canada.
thanks

Well - do it all, if you can afford it, but don't go Meyle. Do the pitman arm first and then go from there since the shimmy can definitely come from the slop in that part.

The black stuff leaking may be coming from the crappy oil filled shocks.

thanks for the tip. I'll replace the pitman arm first and see where that takes me. I just wasn't sure if it was the balljoint on the centre tie rod that wore down.
