Hi everyone, been looking for some drilled rotors. I found some on ebay from a company called R1 Concept in La Habra CA. The price is very good compared to here in the UK, They offer F + R drilled and grooved rotors and pads as a package for $246, has anyone used this company or know about the quality of these rotors, (any help appreciated)

Nope sorry. Don't know this company. Mine are custom. check with my friend Gerry who is the owner of Phoenix Motorsport in Surrey (http://www.phoenixmotorsport.co.uk/). I purchased quite a few great items from him. Maybe he can give you a better opinion.

Mick, have a look at THESE (http://www.ksport.co.uk/products.asp?f=brakes) I've spoken with them about the 356mm (!) application for my 840ci with drilled rotors and they seemed quite agreeable as they love the 8 series. I'm not sure why the e31 isn't listed in the UK link, but it is for the US affiliate.

I'm running ZIMMERMANN rotors on my M635 as well as my 540 and have no problems since over two years now. I also had them on my previous ALPINA B12 with no trouble either. They are about £120,- per set (front) in Germany.

I almost went for the Zimmermans, but settled for stock instead. I'm installing them Friday with Rotex Gold pads.

By the way Wolf, my next purchase is E24!!!

E24 Huh? You should jump on this below! I've had a M6 L6 and 2-1985 CSi's and neither compared to the HP of my 83 Euro! It would break the tires in 3rd gear!!! I'm taking a day to think about it my self. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180166036354&rd=1 (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=2518995&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2Fws%2F eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26ih%3D008%26sspagename%3 DSTRK%253AMEWA%253AIT%26viewitem%3D%26item%3D18016 6036354%26rd%3D1)

My 1st choice has always been an E9 but they are very expensive or totally rotten.
That's why I ended up with an E24 which I currently have two of right now. #2 is a "normal" 635CSi (12/85) which I'm currently restoring. What I like about the E24 is the simplicity and reliability PLUS you can very well keep up with the traffic on the left side of the Autobahn - especially the M version :).

The series 2 (E28 based) is my favorite. On the E12 based series 1 I don't like the rear bumpers and the early 3.5l engine is a gas guzzler. The E34 based series 3 has too much plastic around the bumpers.

I've always liked the E24, It's so Smooth looking and needs nothing more than a Front spoiler to look awesome, And you gotta love how they never stop pulling!

I fully agree but I'd like to add a lowered suspension to the front spoiler.

Wolf, the E9 is also my favorite. There are quite a few of them here in Los Angeles. I've seen some that look like new (amazing). I admit that I am not ready to throw down that kind of cash to restore one yet. One day.

The E24, on the otherhand, is an easier project for me. There are tons of them around here, so lots of parts to scavenge. Plus, the E24 is, well, one hell of a car to drive. I think that an E24 would compliment my E31 nicey in my garage.

Thanks 8eights for the link.

When it comes to E24, there are quite a few nice choices. M6, L6, Euro, etc...

I might break down and squander more money on one of these beauties sooner than later :D
