View Full Version : UUC M5 combo slipping
bimmer4ever 10-06-2007, 11:24 AM I've been searching for this but nothing comes up.
I have an UUC M5 lwt combo setup and it holds on low boost but it's slipping when past 10psi.
Which clutch should I put now cerametalic or multi-puck?
How much power I'm putting down to make this clutch slip like this?
The clutch is in good cond, not wear out and the install was perfect, already break in.
bmwperson 10-06-2007, 11:26 AM m5 and ultrasmooth will hold ~600wtq
Rob Levinson 10-06-2007, 12:22 PM 1) You're using the OE organic disk, I assume?
2) Is it slipping when fully engaged or when trying to engage? If the latter, is your CDV still in place?
3) Sounds like you would be a candidate for our CeraMetallic disk.
Bigsalgt 10-06-2007, 12:39 PM I have the same setup with no complaints! Have you been driving the vehicle harder then most; IE: Launching etc.?
GGray 10-06-2007, 04:56 PM I put the UUC six puck in my car... I had a stock M5 clutch..DOA first run with boost:( On the way to the dyno...sucked...
Six puck holds like great. squeals on a hard downshift if the revs aren't matched exactly right but I could car less its a toy and track car..I just wanted to put a clutch in and be done! Good to I think 600 or 650ft trq!
No break in perios either :D
bimmer4ever 10-06-2007, 05:17 PM From a 60mph roll hit wot and when pass around 10-12psi started slipping, the shift light came on at 6000 hit 4th slip all the way thru 6000 hit 5th and the same happened and a friend of mine cruising next to me looking like wtf.
Tried 2 more times and the same thing happened also my piston rings are shot.

Question #1 was the most important to clarify.
Question #2 had 2 parts.
Doesn't sound like you're letting it fully engage before getting on the gas again in 4th, and riding a slipping clutch - and then on into the next gear - certainly isn't doing any of the parts a favor!
Awaiting clarification as above.

rinochasr 10-06-2007, 05:55 PM I used the uuc 8.5lb flywheel with the e34 m5 clutch with a c30 kit with absolutely no problems for 2 years. I finished my turbo build and the clutch let go literally within 1 mile. Switched to the cerametalic and once again, no problems.
5mall5nail5 10-06-2007, 06:16 PM CF setups have much more success on clutches than a turbo setup might simply because the boost/power is so linearly building to redline that there is no sudden acceleration to challenge the friction. I had a sachs sport clutch when I was supercharged that was great - could chirp 2nd, never let go as the revs went to redline, life was good. Switched to turbo and clutch slipped from the first time I went WOT in 5th gear at about 3500 rpm.

1) M5 organic (OEM) combo you (UUC sell)
2) fully engage in 3rd, shifted to 4 & 5 throttle off then wot.
CDV?
3) exactly

Yep... not what we'd recommend for your use.
Any dyno graphs? I'd like to see what your hp/tq curves look like.

No dyno #'s yet, need clutch of course and piston rings.
Do you have a group buy for cerametallic or multi-puck?

Your cerametallic disc's are awesome. Great product, helluva bite.
BTW-- Do your cerametallic clutch kits come with a sachs pressure plate? I bought mine 2nd hand (but new), and it had a sachs PP.
